No legs seen in 10-11 week ultrasound

My ultrasound picture from 10 weeks 6 days shows no legs (only white dots for arms).  My doctor tends to rush through things and also tries to avoid worrying me so I'm nervous she might have either not mentioned a potential problem or not studied the u/s closely enough.  (She knows I'm going for a CVS next week so she might've just wanted to wait for that..who knows).  Has anyone else had an ultrasound this far along that showed no legs?  I wouldn't be worries except that I have read that legs and arms should both be visible on an u/s at this point.  THANKS.

I just saw your response.  I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.  I'm glad you have a baby girl now!  As I just wrote, I think my doctor might have old technology - hoping that's the case versus something is wrong - but am having my CVS tomorrow so will know more then.  May I ask you whether you had seen the heartbeat before your miscarriage?  Did you have any signs leading up to the m/c?  Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you both for responding.  I honestly am thinking about switching doctors.  Maybe nothing is wrong - hopeully you are both right; probably - but I think maybe my doctor's ultrasound technology isn't as up to date as other doctors' equipment  We weren't even able to tell what the heartbeat was!  So while other people are seeing hands and other detailed body parts and hearing the heartbeat at 10 weeks, all we are seeing is a fuzzy peanut with stubs.  Thank goodness I just called the place where we are having the CVS done and they said they would show us the detailed on their u/s equipment.

I miscarried at 11 weeks. It happened at home and I could count the fingers and toes. So if the u/s was done correctly they would be easy to detect.  But maybe the baby was curled right up and all you could see is stumps. Don't worry. I'm sure things will be okay.

I had u/s at 10 w 2d and we saw hands very well (although it seemed like they were not attached to the body) but we did not see legs yet.  Our baby was measuring right on schedule and my ob said that everything looked great.  I am sure that your baby is OK.

Good luck with CVS!!!

I remember at that time my baby's legs & arms looked very small.  I doubt very much that your dr would've avoided saying something was wrong if that were true.  Personally I've never met a dr who wouldn't share their concerns - especially if they were worried about a particular issue.  Therefore, I wouldn't worry about it until there's something TO worry about - try to relax & good luck on your CVS next week
