Omg!

I'm 35 and my husband is 53. He had a vasectomy done well over 20 years ago. Today I found out that I'm pregnant. How in the heck is this possible?

I don't have any personal experience but I've read a lot of postings from women claiming that they got pregnant after their partners had a vasectomy. It happens more often than we think. One of the ladies said that she asked her partner's doctor how was is possible that she got pregnant? He just answered that "maybe couple of little swimmers somehow got through..."

On the flip side. I think thats amazing. There must be a very specific reason for this baby...

I understand that everyone would think, especially my husband, that I've cheated. We both are still in shock about this whole thing. So far I've taken 5 tests. 4 hpt and 1 doctor. Sheesh! And I'm being calm about it. To be honest, I'm cursing like a sailor right now! Just can't believe it.

There is always that chance that they have come untied. Its the same with women who become pregnant after tubes being tied. it's not impossible. Im with previous post. have him go get his sperm count checked. because we know he is going to think you cheated and you dont want to have to wait til the baby is born for dna. this will put a major strain on your relationship which wouldn't be good for the baby.

By your surprise, I take it that you did not sleep with anyone else.

Guys are told to come back a few months after their vasectomy and get a sperm test done, to be sure it was effective.  A lot of times, they don't bother.  If your husband got the test done and the count was 0 then, obviously his tubes have come untied enough for sperm to get from point A to point B.  (I guess a third choice is that he never actually got the vasectomy and has just been saying he has.)  Your problem is that if he believes he got an effective vasectomy, it is going to at least cross his mind that you cheated.  So get him to the doctor for a sperm count right away.
