One-hour glucose test and LOW blood sugar?!?

I think the midwives and doctors at the practice where I'm a patient think I'm a bit "interesting" - something one never wants to be in a medical situation. I'm 14.5 weeks pregnant, and I've never seen doctors so frequently in my life! Most recently, they were interested that when they did a one-hour glucose test on me, the result came back that I had quite low blood sugar - my number was somewhere in the 50's. Yes, I did drink the whole bottle of stuff. For those of you who don't know, this test is looking to see if people have high blood sugar - an indication of gestational diabetes. Normal is somewhere around 100, and high is over 140. So a number in the 50's really is quite low.

Anyhow, the midwife who noticed this in the results asked me if I had been feeling OK when they took my blood. I was ready to go eat something at the time, but not feeling bad. I'd never had my blood sugar tested before, but how I was feeling seemed totally normal for me. I generally need to eat (pregnant or not) every 3 hours or so. So I'm thinking maybe I somehow have hypoglycemia that I've been managing on my own since I was a teenager?

Has anyone else had this happen? And if so, what was the explanation?

I had my first glucose test done at 16 weeks and to my surprise it was negative (don't remember the results). I was surprised because I had the same test done years ago when I was 25 (a 3/4 hours test drinking sugar with multiple blood tests) and I had completely failed it and was diagnosed pre-diabetics. At the time I was in super shape but had a lot of hypoglycemia crises, and I have had hypoglycemia here and there since then. So I have a hard time understanding how I could pass this test now that I am pregnant and quite sedentary?? My test is going to be repeated in 2 weeks at 28 weeks and we'll see if I pass or fail.

When I was expecting my DD( she is now 22years) I had the same thing along with very low blood presure, I made sure I ate around every 3/4 hours and snacked on fresh fruit, it helped my sugar levels not the blood lol and as for my wieght gain I was 16 pounds lighter after her birth than I was when I fell pregnant. Best thing to do is talk to you doc or midwife and if they feel you need to act on it do so. DONT PIG OUT ON CHOCY AND CAKE that wont help lol even if you do have the perfect reason to do so.
