Pregnancy Sac Empty!!!!!! please Help!!!!!

Hello my name is Jennifer,  I am new to this site. I just being reading a lot of post from different women about pregnancy sac is empty. I am 4 weeks 6days pregnant. I took a home test and it said that I am pregnant, i was so excite because 11 yrs ago i had a stillborn child. April 29th i started to have menstration cramps, no bleeding or spotting. I went to the ER and told the nurse that I were pregnant and can she do a pregnancy test on me. They took my blood and the dr came to my room and said i were indeed pregnant, he did a ultrasound on me and told me he didn't not see anything. He said that I might be having a miscarriage because my HCG were very low. About a week later I went to the er because I were having a lot of pain. My dr check my Hormones level she said that It were high,(1970)  she did another ultrasound and she found an empty sac!!  My dr said not to worry, everthing will be okay. How can i not to worry. On 05-18-11 I go back to the clinic for them to check my blood. On 06-1-11 I have another ultrasound. I am praying to god let I have a yolk sac and a heart beat. I really want a child. Please pray for me.....

ChristineMP is right about measurement we can be slightly smaller or larger than the dates we think.  Also keep in mind every baby grows differently and these are just guidelines or averages that they use.  This time around (3rd pregnancy) I actually had an idea of my conception date so I was pretty amazed at how spot on the measurements are so far... but yes this can all change in a matter of weeks.

Very excited for you and so glad you came back to update us, was thinking of you :D

There are so many things that can affect the accuracy of the measurement during an ultrasound. A 3 day discrepancy isn't a big difference...and the most recent ultrasound matches your dates better.

Also keep in mind that very rarely do we know the actual conception date of the baby. Gestational age is based upon the first day of your last menstrual period, assumes a 28 day cycle and a Day 14 ovulation. But...many women do not have a cycle that follows this "norm". Using your LMP gives a rough estimate of gestational age, but it isn't unusual for it to be a few days off...

Good news my ultrasound went well...but I am a bit confused the first ultrasound I did 2 weeks ago told me I am 7w1d now today my ultrasound said I am 9w4d,are these ultrasound accurate? because before I did the first I knew I was 7w4d and the technicain advise me others that I am 3 days off ,now today my suspicions was at the first, so I was right and she was wrong.

very happy everything goes well..

eves932 keep us posted on your ultrasound.  The first trimester is always so concerning.  We are certainly here for you and have you in our thoughts.  I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.  I had our ultrasound last week and I was nervous, but everything was ok.

Spotting in the first trimester isn't unusual and can be caused by many things. If you find my thread "A Scare of My Own" on this forum, you can read about my own recent experience with spotting. Thankfully, my OB is ALWAYS available by phone and will work me into her schedule if I need to be seen quickly.

Have you called your doctor about the spotting?

I went in and had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and all they saw was a sac no baby. The next week there was a baby. So don't worry its just early.

Hi Jennifer I understand how your are feeling, I am 36yrs old and currently pregnant this is my fifth pregnancy, I have had 4 consecutive miscarriages in the pass, and all of them ended with an empty sac and my HCG levels was dropping...now on my fifth pregnancy I am now considered a high risk ,my doctor put me unto a specialist who is as this point carefully monitoring my condition..I am now taking progesterones suppositories 3x per day for the next 12 weeks on my pregnancy..the good news is I had one ultrasound done that reveals the embryo and I have heard my babies heart beat for the first time...on wednesday 05.11.11 ia m due or another ultrasound but right now I am scared because on the weekend I started spotted without any cramping or pain and I am curious to know if theres anyone out there who is on the progesterones suppositeries with the same experience that I am facing right now...the good news is that the spotting has stopped , I am currently 8wks and 6 days pregnant...and I am really hoping and praying this pregnancy pulls through it will be my first surviving pregnancy if it does I am now lving in fear and everything I panic very easily please can someone respond to this I honestly in need of some support from others please keep me on your prayers.thanks.

I would try to do all of your medical appointments with your ob/gyn or your clinic, rather than going to the ER.  They really aren't equipped to monitor pregnancies and tell you things about your levels.  You should be where your file is always available to the examining doctor and all of your tests come in to the same place, and so on.  Your ultrasounds were too early, as Sally says.  Try to stop stressing, it is probably all OK.  Go to your regular doctor and ask all your questions.  It should be very helpful.

Hi Jennifer,

your ultrasounds were too early to show anything yet.
Please try to relax as much as possible.  Wishing you well.

You are in my prayers.

Did they tell you what your actual hCG levels were at your first visit? I am thinking if it was "very low" at the first visit and then 1970 a week later...it sounds as though it is increasing the way it should :)

The heartbeat appears at 6 weeks (42 days) or a little after. So your next ultrasound should show a heartbeat. Right now it is too early for one.
