Wow, I'm surprised your dr is so optimistic. I think that is so wonderful!! He must of checked your cd 3 FSH, Estrodial, and your cd 21 progesterone? If so and these results are all good, then that is amazing. I'm also 42 and my dr. won't do IVF and anyone over 40 using her own eggs. He says the stress of removing the eggs is too great for eggs as old as ours. The fact of the matter is, at our age, even if we are producing eggs/follicles, they are in our reserve and they are typically the lower quality eggs which is why miscarriage for womenWomen's way our age is so great. But, LOTS of womenWomen's way do have successful pregnancys using their own eggs up until the age of 48! You just have to realize it's a #'s game with hit and miss. Some months you'll get that golden egg and some you wont. I don't know if your insurance covers IVF or what your financial situation is, but I would say if you can afford it, try, try and try again! It is really a great sign that you were even able to get pregnant on your 1st IVF cycle. I'm always really rooting for anyone 40 years old or older ttc! I'm thinking good thoughts for you!!!
Thanks for the positive thoughts. I miscarried around the 5th and this time we are not going to tell anyone. My doctor said my eggs look as good as and 20 year olds eggs so here we go again. If this time does not work he said donor eggs and a 90% chance of preg. With the money issue we are paying for it out of pocket, and if it is successful it will be worth EVERY penny
I agree w/babyalive - you're very fortunate w/the re that you have. If your eggs are of that high quality, I would too try another ivf cycle but as she said, it really is a numbers game. Am so sorry for the m/c - I've been through that twice before - not fun at all. Anyway, much ssbd to you and good luck on the next cycle. - jennifer - P.s. do you have any frozen embryos?
