prog shots/suppositories are part of the protocal for our clinics IVF or IUI's. It is an easy way to help prevent m/c. It is easy to get your levels ckd/monitored and the shots/supp aren't that expensive.

I had a miscarriage in July and conceived again in Sept.  My mis was from abnormal chromosones.  With this preg. in the beginning my prog levels were very low so they put me on the supposotoies 2x a day.  I amnow 15 weeks and have been having some bleeding incidents.  I have a blood disorder so I take daily injections of a blood thinner.  Today the high risk dr. put me on the prog shots for thebleeding.  Apparently, it is supposed to help.  andykk- I go to the dr once a week for the shots....  I have enough doing my blood thinner shots once a day...lol..

Hi I am just wondering why you are both doing prog shots...I recently just had a miscarrage and my dr told me it was just by chance and should not have a problem going on to have another successfuly pregnancy since I have 3 children already.  HOwever she said to be on the safe side, as soon as I get prego, she wants me to start prog sepositories she said just in case it may be how and maybe the egg is not staying.  I asked her if my prog is not the problem will it cause problems to take it and she said no.  So what is your experience?  Thanks

I do a prog shot daily (2mm) due to FET and PPT. My side effects (have been doing them for about 5weeks now) have been weight gain (sorry!) bruises, knots where I have injected, and a little more tiredness (this was also before becoming pregnant, so not just due to pregnancy). But, I am doing a lot more than once a week, so you might not have any side effects. I have learned to warm the shot up just a little first (I put it in a hot wash cloth) and also put a hot wash cloth on my hip/butt before and after injections. A heating pad helps, too if you get a little bit knotty. Good luck!! I also do the shots myself, since my hubby was trying to be TOO careful and the anticipation was killing me while he did it. I do it much quicker! :O)
