Results are finally in for my little group of AMA's

by oceanv, Nov 02, 2009 09:42PM
Just thought I'd give a little update about my little group of AMA's. The Stats are in as the last one of us just delivered.

Me (Joanne) - Baby Mackenzie 5lbs12.5 oz, 19 inches, 37w1d gestation 09/29/09
I was due October 19th, turned age 39 days before "conceiving", first and only child for myself and hubby, au natural, 3 months, pre-seed on "winner" month
Had a bit of drama at the beginning, spotting, possible blighted ovum....whoops now we find the fetus etc.....

Quad Testing came back 1:250 (without diabetes), 1:400 run as diabetic, amnio not offered in bc results have to be 1:300 or worse, gd @ 14 weeks controlled with insulin, high bp (chronic) controlled with Methyldopa
Level II Usound normal
Extra Usounds all normal, measuring small @ 35 weeks along with other issues, weekly nst's started @ 32 weeks, bp starts to climb, OB recommended taking her out. Out she came at 37w1d by c-section.  Bit of drama at delivery as her nose was squished, while I was in recovery they gave my husband the "she may be a downs baby, flat nose in the only possible suspected marker - we need to run testing" he did not feel good about making any more decisions, said I would have to, they came to me in recovery to give me the news.  Chromosomal test was ordered, results in 1 month, fortunately results came back in two weeks - normal female. We're doing good, had some weight issues but things are moving along.

Best Friend (E) - Baby Boy E 6lbs 11oz
She was also Due October 19th, E is 39, she also conceived few days after 39th bday as we're 6 days apart, 2nd baby for her, first born 08, conceived au natural, 2 months trying
Baby E came on his at 38wks gestation (10/06/09)- and in a hurry! I think E-mom was just jealous that I wasn't pregnant anymore :-O) had to be delivered by nurses as came too fast for Doc to get there
Testing was normal, Usounds Normal, one weird blip on Level II, cyst, decided not to amnio. Baby Normal

and Finally - better late than never.....
Half Sister (K) - Baby Girl H 7lbs 2oz 11/01/09
Due October 20th (in New Zeland though....so you could say if we'd all delivered on our due dates it would have been the same day - weird! )  Age 41, au natural but took a while, first child, born at 41wks gestation - yikes
Triple Screen, Nuchal all good, Level II usound all good. Baby good.

So happily we're three for three, there is hope and just cause you're over 35 doesn't necessarily mean there's going to be a less than happy outcome. It might just take a little bit of perserverance,  Good Luck Ladies,
Joanne

Thank you so much for posting this. Perfect timing for me as I am deciding about amnio. It's so true... perfectly healthy babies born all the time to us "oldies". ;)
