Scared about HCG levels

Hi all. A blood test on Jan 28th, 2015 showed my HCG was 8 and the doctor told me I was pregnant. I was so excited. I'm 30 years old and my husband and I want a baby so badly. I had irregular period from PCOS since I was a teenager, but the doctor put me on metformin and pregnatude and I ovulated and got pregnant on our first try!

To monitor me, they tested my hcg 2 days later and it was 35. They were happy with that. Then 3 days after they I was testes and it was only a 71. They told me is was a boarder line increase and they wanted to test again 2 days later (tomorrow) because they should be 'much higher than that by now'. I'm only 4 weeks and 3 days.

I'm very confused because from 35-71 in 73 hours, that is doubling....so why are they worried about it?
I'm stressing out and crying. I can't handle this.

Any one know if I should really be worried? Why doesn't the fact that it doubled matter? Now I am starting to feel like I am having mild back and ovary pain, but don't know if I'm just so stressed that I'm imagining it.

I am going through something similar.  I was tested saturday and my hcg level was 14482. I was tested again on Monday and waiting for those results.  They said it needs to be at least 30000. I'm also experiencing pain as well. I am trying to stay positve. I get results tomorrow.

I hope and pray everything is okay. I just looked back at my records because I had also got my levels tested around the same time.. 4 weeks 1 day mine were at 347. But don't lose hope, everyone is different!  I will be praying for you! Try to think positive!

I have quite a bit of experience with hcg levels. Of course these are personal experiences and everyone is so different. Having done fertility treatments and meeting lots of other women who have as well hcg has meant a lot to us. Although they say normal can be a doubling time of 72 hours that's usually later when it starts to slow down. In the beginning it "generally" increases quickly. I say that because I've seen success stories that start out low. For my successful tries the numbers were always high and rose fast. For my ectopics, miscarriages and chemical they were low and didn't rise fast. It's not the starting number but the rise that's important. Unfortunately all you can do is wait and I truly wish you the best and hope you are yet another success story x
