TMI Warning re. bowel movements

I'm warning you again that I'm about to give way TMI here! I'm also going to say please don't laugh even though I won't know if you do! :)  Here goes...I know that constipation is supposed to be a symptom of pregnancy, but I'm just past the five week mark and am having MORE bowel movements than normal.  Last night, for the first time in my life, I had to get up in the middle of the night to have one!!! This has me worried because after 2.5 years TTC I'm worried about EVERYTHING, and if I'm pooping more than normal, doesn't that mean my body isn't retaining enough nutrients?  It's not diarrhea...it's totally normal...just two to three or even four times a day instead of my usual one (with the occastional two).  Anyone else experience this in pregnancy? Should I be concerned? Do I need to tell my doctor before my next appointment next Thursday?

In the first trimester I had interchanging diarrhea and constipation, which was strange - my doctor said it was fine.  From the end of the is trimester to now, I have also had a general increase.  It does not mean that you are not storing nutrients and I would not worry at all.  I am now 28 weeks and my baby is fine.

I had an increase as well.  Now I am almost 18 weeks and it's kind of slowing down again.  I do go more than once sometimes per day but def. daily which is not like me.  I think you are ok.  Good luck.
