Progesterone is a common supplement for us over 35er's to take.  I am on it myself.  There are mixed feelings as to whether or not they will prevent a miscarriage, but they certainly don't hurt.  Good luck to you, and I am sorry for your loss's.

Thanks so much for your comment!!  I definately will get my progesterone tested if I BFP. I opk regularly and it shows that I O. I have also taken the First Response Fertility Test and my fsh levels were normal.  This will be my first month trying again.

Thanks for the info and the good news that it works!! I plan on starting the 1st dose of 50mg clomid friday.I will use opk and hopefully I will O!. I never took progesterone with the 3 pg's that miscarried so I will make sure that if I test + hpt I will start asap progesterone. Congratulations on your beautiful baby!! You're an inspiration to us all.

The questions you asked are excellent ones & also could be answered on the fertility forum - progesterone test from what I remember is done to see if you ovulate or it also can be done after conception to see if the woman is producing enough progesterone to maintain a pregnancy.  Some doctors put their patients on progesterone at ovulation (mine did) and others prescribe it when pt is getting a positive pregnancy test.  Still others don't prescribe it at all thinking that there's no scientific proof that it works on naturally conceived pregnancies - only on ART ones.

I would insist on a progesterone test if you get a BFP - it should be above 15.  My re wanted her patients' progesterone above 20 so it's different w/each doctor.  Good luck!

I delivered my son at 41 years old.  I had 4 miscarriage prior to having him.  After the 4th miscarriage my RE put me on Clomid and progesterone once I found out I was pregant, it was the only pregnancy that continued.  I believe that it worked for me.
