Throwing up too much?

Is it dangerous to throw up too much due to acid reflux??  To where it burns after ? Has anyone had something like this happen? I swear I've had it through out my whole pregnancy, I only have 11 days left to go and I seriously throw up after every meal now, it's starting to really hurt the back of my throat all the way down to my stomach like a bad bad burning

P.S.- I forgot to answer thoroughly....baby and I were completely fine and better than okay after delivery and the acid drama completely left. In this pregnancy I am still experiencing throat buning/bleeding and according to the doctor. ..we're still doing great and will bounce back again after delivery. Hang n there....you're at the finish line.

Unfortunately,  I experienced this my entire last pregnancy along with hyperemesis and I've done an entire repeat of acid reflux, heartburn and hyperemesis all over again (7days to go). I've been given every med on the market that is allowed in pregnancy and nothing has worked, so, I definitely feel for you. However, if you go to L&D depending on the doctor they may allow you to get a small little cup of liquid that kills the acid completely(dont recall the name). It's a liquid solution that's given before c sections to prevent all of the extra issues that acid brings. I asked if I could get some but my doctor wouldn't allow it since she wants ot to be super effective during my upcoming c section.

Best wishes and feel better.

I take Pepcid for heart burn. Throwing up too much can cause your esophagus to become raw and start bleeding. Also the acid is bad for your teeth. Definitely talk to your Dr. They can give you something to help with the throwing up.

Did you ever go to the hospital or L&D for it? I'm seriously debating going because my throat is burning so bad, the pain isn't even in my stomach at this moment it's burning my throat, but I feel like what can they really do to help anyway?

I feel for you.  I've been taking Zantac 2x daily for reflux but doc has just switched me to protonix 1 x day cuz Zantac wasn't cutting it.  I've had vomiting throughout this pregnancy due to hormones & reflux so I've been on and off zofran since week 8. Without the zofran I was dehydrated from vomiting so much & that was a viscious circle of IVs.   If you're vomiting every meal you should definitely  call.    At 34 wks I have the zofran down to a quarter pill very occasionally but sometimes I have had to take the zofran just to keep the Zantac down.  I still puke but only about twice a week now instead of daily or multi x/day. .  You should discuss with your doc or get a nurse consult to help.  Your office must have a safe OTC and Rx list.  I took gaviscon and something called comfort gel for reflux/heartburn around 25 wks. It worked ok but the later into pregnancy you get the worse the reflux can get too because of baby's size and the progesterone relaxing the digestive muscles.   Good luck mama.
