Timing of HcG injections?

Hello I was wondering if anyone knew anything about HcG injections. I haven't had LH surge yet and I was told that it could help bring on ovulation if you do it before? Does anyone know about that and also if you do it before and then continue to test for LH surge will it show up or will that mess up the results? and has anyone heard when all the best times to have the injectables are?

Thanks for your comments, it really does help! We are doing insemination at home this time and we have the Hcg to administer ourselves. I have a fertility monitor and this morning it was at high fertility, just meaning that within a few days I should surge, so I am wondering if I addministered the shot tonight, have sex, and then maybe tomorrow do one insemination and the next day do the other. I have enough for two inseminations but not three. THANK YOU! I have also heard to do another hcg after insemination too.

I've had 3 IUIs.  The hcg is taken when the eggs are mature, meaning of the right size (at least 15mm I think). You would then ovulate 36-40 hours after taking it.  The best chance for getting pregnant is to have sex the day/night that you take the hcg, and then wait 36 hours and do the semen insemination and then have sex again later that day. If you are only inseminating and have several semen samples, then you may want to inseminate (a) within the 36 hour window after taking hcg, (b) exactly 36-37 hours after the hcg and again (c) within 12 hours after that.  As for timing of hcg, you want to time it before you would normally ovulate.  Have you had the stretchy discharge? That's a sign that you will ovulate within 2-5 days.  A day or two after you first get that might be good for taking the hcg.  All this being said, I'm not a doctor and you may want to consult with one.  Best of luck.

Have you heard that if you have them too early without seeing the ultrasound then the follicles would not be big enough?

Your ob or RE should determine based on the size and quantity of your follicles when is the best time to have hcg should be.   You will ovulate about 36 hours after the HCG, no need to monitor for LH surge.  Again, your dr should tell you the timing and dosages of injectables based on your history.

Good luck!
