To mature momma

Hi Debra,  I'm not sure if you saw my post below, but my FSH and estradial numbers were good enough to qualify me for invitro insurance coverage.  (Or at least potentially; we still need official approval, and first I'll need to get a good score on a "clomid challenge" test during my next cycle.)  A few days ago, in doing a preliminary ultrasound to make sure my uterus is okay, my doctor said I only had 4 antral follicles on each ovary, and he thought that might mean I wouldn't respond well to the drugs.  He is not at all optimistic that ivf will work on me anyway, so it all might get called off if I don't do well on the clomid test.  My FSH was 10 before my pregnancy last spring and 11 now, which is kind of high, although I guess good for my age.  I'm just wondering if you recall what your FSH/estradial numbers were before your ivf, and how many antral follicles you had on your preliminary ultrasound (i.e., before taking any drugs)?  I know you ended up with high-quality embryos, so I'm wondering if your numbers were a lot better to begin with....Thanks, and I hope all is well with you!  (If anyone else over 43 is reading this post and has any FSH numbers/ivf stories to share, I'd be interested in hearing those also!)

Hi, Thats great news! I think I had 7 on my R and 5 on my L. We ended up with 5 at retrieval, but only 3 fertilized. I had a good response to that clomid challenge as well as with the meds ( for my age). I'm not sure what my FSH was before we started, I'm thinking it was 8. I'll be thinking of you in the upcoming days. Think positive. Things are good with me. Started my shots this past Sunday, US and bloodwork on the 17th. Hope things look good. Keep me updated. I don't remember my fsh/estradial numbers but I just knew that my re thought they were good enough to let me try for an ivf cycle w/my own eggs.  It didn't work - well in fact my ovaries didn't respond to the gonalf and other meds to stimulate them.  So since I'm 43 (well now 44) we did a donor cycle which was successful.  In fact I'm now 7 weeks pg.  I've kind of posted my story on other threads but thought this might be of interest of you.  Since we have no invitro coverage of any sort, we decided to spend the extra $$ to do the donor (although that was painful to say bye to some of our savings) cycle.  I hope this was okay to post on your thread - I've hardly been able to get out of bed since I've had terrible nausea/fatigue. Hope this helps!!!  And good luck to you!!
