UTIRINE SPASM

UTIRINE SPASM

My wife gave birth 5 days ago, and on her second day after her delivery she started to have an abdominal pain so i took her to the emergency one day later, and they did an Ultra sound which didn't show what's going on so they asked us to do a CT scan, then they told us everything is normal, it's just an uterine spasm caused by the uterus because it's getting back to its normal spot and they gave us some pain killer as Percocet, but friend of us told us to not take so she takes Tylinol 3 instead. She's still having it but it's getting a little bit better. My wife is 35 years, it's her second birth but her third pregnancy which was ectopic, and she had to remove her left tube and ovary. Her deliveries were both vaginal. Please we are concerned because it didn't happen to her on her first delivery, is it normal? and are there any suggestions?
Thank you so much ever.

Hi,

yes it's normal to have pain as the uterus contracts.  This can persist for a week or 2 after the delivery.  She may have more pain this time than the first due to scar tissue after the ectopic pregnancy.

All will be fine.

I have adhesions from previous surgery and the contractions after my delivery were painful enough to require strong pain meds for the first few days.

Best wishes

This morning I was talking to a friend of mine who's daughter had a baby not too long ago.  Her daughter was complaining of postpartum pain in the abdomen as well...wouldn't go away.  Yesterday, she had her gall bladder removed.  Apparantly, this is a pretty common complaint after having a baby....just something you may want to check out.
