Update on u/s today

by Jeanie20, Nov 05, 2009 01:55PM
I went for my u/s at the high risk doc's office.  It went good.  They did the chromosone test to check the back of the babies necks and Baby A was cooperative so the tech was able to check the back of her/his neck and everything is good.  Baby B was not so cooperative so they weren't able to check the back her/his neck but the NP said from the measurements everything looks good for both babies.  Baby A was moving around a lot while Baby B wasn't really moving around to much.  The tech tried to get him/her to move then he flip flopped around.  They both have the same heart rate which was 167 and the tech said that she has never had 2 babies with the same heart rate before.  Their heart rates are normal.  Everything looks good so far so good.  I have to go back in 6 wks for another scan.  I have a quick question for you ladies out there.  I had pre-term labor with my last pregnancy with twins and this time the NP recommended to take 17P which is a shot that I would have to get every wk starting from wk 16.  It's suppose to prevent pre-term labor and it's suppose to help make the uterus not contract.  Has anyone heard of this drug or has taken it before???  If so let me know your feeling on it and your experiences???  Thanks again in advance for whoever reads this & gets back to me.

I've never heard of 17p, but I assume it's a progesterone shot. From what I've understood progesterone can help prevent preterm labor by "calming down" the uterus. A friend of mine was on progesterone in the latter part of her pregnancy for that exact reason. Glad to hear everything looked good on your ultrasound today!

I'm sorry I have never heard of this either.  However, I am glad to hear that it sounds like babies are doing well and it sounds like you are in great hands!!  Good luck!!

with my last son i had preterm labor and gave birth early. so this time around the doctor has me on the weekly progesterone shots. its supposed to prevent preterm labor...i think i have had about 7 so far. they give it in the butt...its kinda uncomfortable and burns alittle but not too bad. sometimes i have cramping after but thats all...hopefully it gets me far along. tomorrow i will be 27 weeks and the doctors goal right now is 32 weeks for me. i am on full/complete bed rest though...i wish you the best of luck!

To: everyone
Thanks for your responds.  I appreciate it.  That was a relief yesterday.  I was a little concerned b/c Baby B wasn't really moving a lot but his/her heart rate was good so no worries.  I am sure he/she will make up for it later on.  Yes, it is the progesterone shots with water.  I was reading up on it and it says that it could cause a problem for boys but that surgery could fix it.  Some ladies didn't care about the surgery for the baby just as long as they didn't lose their baby.  I guess that makes sense.  My hubby wants me to try it.  What do I have to lose right??  Thanks again.
