What does a brownish discharge in early pregnancy mean?

I am 46 years old. I had a son 19 years ago. In my last visit to the doctor he said my reproductive organs look like they were 25 years old. I am in good health. I recently got married to a man younger. We want to start a family. I am almost two weeks late. I always have very regular periods. My last period was January 31st. I believe I am pregnant, as the symptoms are the same as before and I am never late. Today I spotted a brownish dishcharge, with some hairline brownish thread like...I want to know if this is normal, as I did not have this with my fisrt son. I am very happy about this pregnancy...Tomorrow I will test. If I am pregnant for sure, is this discharge normal? What should I do to protect my baby at this stage?. Thank you for your reply. Ana

I had brownish d/c early in pregnancy...it was implantation bleeding.  I am now 27 weeks along.  Good Luck!

the brown discharge IF you are pregnant could be implantation which is pretty normal. but i agree with pam and adgal...take a test, and go from there... if you are pregnant... get a dr appt to confirm and let him/her know about the brown discharge.

Hi there....and welcome!!!  Ditto to what Pam said.  However, you should report the spotting to your Dr. on your first visit.  But it happens to a lot of women.  Good luck.

Hello Ana, welcome to the forum.  Assuming you are pregnant, seeing a discharge  brownish/pink in color is normal especially in early pregnancy.  Also..."assuming" you are pregnant...the only thing you can do to protect your baby is to take the absolute best care of yourself, start taking prenatal vitamins, stop all bad habits, smoking, drinking, etc..the obvious no-no's during pregnancy.  Other than that, it's a waiting game from here on out!  I really hope you get a BFP tomorrow am when you test...please let us know!!!!  Pam
