another m/c, high FSH and IVF...need info.

Hi girls!  So my HCG was 23 on Monday..which isn't surprising b/c I m/c...think it's almost over though. This is the first time I have m/c naturally so this is new for me.  On Monday my RE mentioned that he thinks what might be causing my m/c is an elevated FSH level.  Mine this month was 12.  He said it should be less then 10.  He said there isn't much they can do for that.  To tell you the truth I was surprised b/c I am 31.  Dh and I asked him about IVF.  I figured the fact that they could grade the eggs and put the good ones back would make sense.  My RE said that unfortuntely this isn't the case.  He said that the results haven't been good for people with high FSH.  Has anybody else heard this.  He wants to put me on injectibles and do IUI.  He seems to think maybe if I have more eggs my chances might be better that one of them sticks.  Does anybody have any advice??
thanks!

FSH might make you less responsive to IVF treatment, BUT age trumps FSH when it comes to getting pregnant!  As long as nothing else is wrong - and it's only FSH - I don't think you'll have trouble getting pregnant and your time isn't running out.  If you do FSH, even if you only have a couple eggs, chances are one of them could be good and will take and you could get pregnant.  Good luck!

My experience supports all of the above, which I've also learned from doctors:  I got pregnant very easily (naturally) with an FSH of 15 and I'm 39!  (When I was single, I did IVF to freeze my eggs when I was 38 years old.  I had an FSH of 11.6 and so IVF didn't work well for me:  I only produced 2 eggs.)

Thanks girls for all the info.  I thought IVF was a good option too.  I will try IUI with injectibles but then I am going to push for IVF...I feel like time might be running out but my RE seems very relaxed about it...hmmmm?

LisaRG-  What is CWRC in NYC?  I live on long island...is there a good RE there???

Thanks again girls!

From what I know, as baby 1234 said, it is more of an issue the older you are, rather than your FSh level. The FSH can vary from month to month, but unfortunately just one bad reading is an indication that egg spply is on the decline. IVF should be a good option for you for sure. I'd be pretty aggressive with the whole process if at all possible, as time is a real issue...there's no way of predicting how fast the ovarian reserve will decrease...everyone is different.
Im 34 and had fsh level12, and fellpregnant after 7 months on clomid, but i was told i was very lucky.  the next step was going to b ivf.
Wishing u all the best!!

Get a second opinion if at all possible. From what my RE said, age trumps fsh. I was 34 and had an fsh reading of 13. Got pregnant through IVF with twins after three cycles. It can happen for you with the right RE. With you being only 31, you would be a prime candidate for IVF I would think (you just probably won't have a lot of eggs at retrieval. I'd say around 10 would be your max)

Much luck to you...

I would think your RE would suggest IVF.
, With IVF now not only can they help you produce many eggs to choose from, but they can now test those eggs for genetic defects before they implant them so that only the good eggs implant ( cost is extra around $5000).  They offer this at the CWRC in NYC.
As far as FSH is concerned, I think it can change each month.  Have you been given an MIS/ AMH fertility test, they say that is a far better test for ovarian reserve.
