Ideally, women planning future pregnancies should consider waiting for tummy tuck surgery.

During pregnancy this abdomen area that was involved in tummy tuck surgery stretches to accommodate the growing fetus. The muscles that were tightened during plastic surgery tummy tuck can separate again during pregnancy. The skin that is re-stretched may not return to normal proportions again.

That being said, the newborn baby's health is generally not complicated because of abdominiplasty surgery. Consider this, caesarian (c) section surgery is much more invasive than tummy tucks because c-sections cut into your uterus whereas tummy tucks do not.

Although most plastic surgeons and specialists agree that it is best to have this surgery performed after you are finished with having children for optimal results, there are many women who do have pregnancies after tummy tuck surgery without experiencing any problems throughout the whole procedure. It is common for the surgical abdominal muscle repair to become sore, but loosening of these muscles do not always occur, and with today's advancing plastic surgery technologies, it is rare to have permanent damage after pregnancy.

My friend said it hurt worse than the boob job, but she is super happy with the results.  My hairdresser had the combo treatment and said the same thing.

FYI, my boob job wasn't really painful at all.  Uncomfortable, but it didn't suck.  I just took tylenol after the first day.

I had a cousin who got one but she had to wait until after she had finished having babies. I am considering it along with a lift (4 babies later, forget the pencil test, I can hold a cordless phone under mine!!!). I just have to wait until new baby gets older. At this point though she doesn't want to come out!!!

I hear you ladies on the gut.  I didn't get stretch marks, but I do have some extra skin.  I'm not sure if it's worse than a big old scar from a tummy tuck though.

I think if you have another kid after the tummy tuck it basically ruins it.  Best to wait.  I've also heard the same for boob jobs, which I have had.  I'll let you know on that front pretty soon!

A good friend of mine just had a tummy tuck and loves it...

I'm right there with ya....I HATE THE GUT!!!!  I wore my maternity jeans for a while, but now everthing either makes me look pregnant or like the michellin man LOL  but it isnt funny :O( I too cancelled stuff because I had NOTHING to wear.

I have lost MOST if not all of my pg weight but I feel like a blob.  I'm sure you will loose it all soon also but the squishy belly stinks it drives me CRAZY!!!! it rolls over ALL my clothes.
DH has been great saying how i look like I did b4 pregnancy but it's soooo not true.  I told him I want new clothes for my bday ....it would be nice to have a few shirts that hid the squishy.

well it has only been a month.. but you are brest feeding and this is my hope that the weight will come off easy haha.. wishfull thinking...  so... how much have you lost since he was born?  Girl you have a thin body and I am sure that within a few months you will be back where you were... it sucks in the beginning though cuz everything in the middle is just squishy!!!  They joys of motherhood!

i didn't get stretch marks and I'm surprised because my mother has LOTS of em and I figured it ran in the family.

Heck no I  haven't lost my pg weight. I feel fat and disgusting.  NONE of my clothes fit. Not the shirts or the jeans or the skirts... none of it. and when I try to squeeze my fat *** into them, i feel even fatter.  I'm so yucked out.  I was supposed to bring Jacob up to my work a couple of weeks ago and cancelled because I'm so fat and have nothing to wear. I finally took him last week, and i was so self conscious. I've gone shopping twice but I refuse to buy fat pants.  And the fat pants wouldn't be that bad because it isn't like I'm that huge, but the GUT... you just can't hide it unless you put a big o shirt on and that makes you look even bigger.
