Ill check with the dr.. If the hospital will do it.. fine, but I wont go somewhere and do it when she s that young.. just too scary!!
Johan.. I emailed her and she said the hospital asked her and had the earrings and all.. so I guess Ill just stick with that road... till it comes to an end.

My mom works in a pediatrician's office, so they recomend a salon where the lady specializes in baby piercings.  My friend took her daughter there at 4 months, and she had to convince them to do it so early.  They usually do it after 6 months.  I don't remember the exact reason, but something having to do that ears are still very small and will still grow and parents later complain that the holes are crooked, although it seemed fine when they were piercing them.

I didnt' have any of my daughters' ears pierced until they were 12 as I too wanted them to want it to be done.  I went w/my oldest dd when she turned 16 to do her belly button and I passed out when I saw the friggin' needle!!  I'm not kidding, believe me!

In her freshman year of college, I went with her again to have her nose pierced.  She really looked kind of cute and it was worth it as it shocked the heck out of my mother who thinks all piercings are evil - it was definitely worth it to see her expression at the Christmas table - LOL.

Right on Tennesseegirl!!!  I do things like that with my daughter too. She now wants her tongue done and I see nothing wrong with that either...mine is done and I have no regrets!  Belly buttons will be next for us too. We're even talking about getting tatoos together...whoo hoo!!!

I waited on my dd too.. till wow she was like 10. and I had to wait when I was young.. I hated it!! these days I dont think it really matters on the ears..and babys look soooo cute with them... ;p

my dd and I on her 16th birthday went and got our belly buttons done togather... she thought that was the coolest thing for me to get it done with her. of course I took mine out.. aaaaaw thank god.. lol but she was mad when I did.. and keeps asking me if im going to re do it..I can see it really touched her for me to do such a thing. There are so many other things we can do as mother and daughter.. MALL.. is her all time fav.. lol

They pierced my daughters ears at the Hospital the day after I gave birth to her. Thats how they did it to me, my sisters and nieces, nothing wrong happened to any of us, I guess it depends on each culture...interesting

A pediatrician will do for extra clean safety sake but I think once the baby is 6 months or so

I had my  daughters done at the mall about 6 months of age and she was fine. I don't think thats a major worry. I got my daughter tiny little diamonds and she never played with them or tried to take them off.

lol i had mine done at maybe 8, i threw up
then i had them done again because they were crooked, well they were crooked too so i had them done a 3rd time

then i became a teenager and maybe 12 holes in one ear i did the rest myself after the first 3.  then my bellybutton twice, my nose.  id have done my nipples but i dont heal well from piercings.  im afraid my baby might do the same poor girl.

i cant stand when i see little boys with pierced ears..........

I was thinking it was 6 weeks so that way they don't pull on their ears and get them infected maybe it was 6 months.....heck if i know.....I might not even get them done til she tells me she wants them too....I didn't have mine til I was 16 and my mom flipped I did it myself......

I LOOK FORWARD TO ALL THE SPECIAL MOTHER/DAUGHTER things we can share and this is one of them.  for me i dont want to encourage her to grow up any faster than she will.  my 9 yr old keeps telling me he needs a phone!!  why?  he is always with me lol.  if you choose to do it spend a few dollars making sure its a reputable place....

I've decided I'm going to wait until my little girl can tell me she would like earrings instead of making the decision for her. I had to wait until I was 13 and it was a special birthday. I always thought it was a dumb rule until I had my own daughter lol..

from what i have heard you should wait until 6months, maybe it has to do with what vac's they have had?   i never heard of a dr doing it, i wouldnt think they would practice piercing lol.  this was a big debate on the other forum, did you ask this there?

the biggest thing to remember is they have to be very sterile.  dont have some dumb teenager who doesnt care much for their job do it.  i personally (like you didnt see this coming lol) wouldnt do it until she is ready to ask for it.  i cant inflict that kind of pain on poor addy! heck i cant let her cry lol

You are going to pierce her ears when she is first born? I heard to wait at least 6 months?

brandi... you have to go real early before they can start directing their hands... so they wont pull on their ears until it is healed.
