my bbt was in the low 97's before ovulation... and shot up to the low 98's to the first 2 dpiui.. and the the last couple of days it dropped back down to the low 97's does this mean the eggs did not fertilize or  have a luteal phase defect??

I am not sure, but I think so many things affect our bbt that it does not always follow the rules that science has applied.
I have seen women's charts who have O'd and gotten pregnant when  and you cannot tell because the temps have been all over the place.
Good luck.

It is possible that it was fluke temps and you might not have O yet. Keep up the BD until temps stay up just in case. Good Luck.
