I didnt go to classes. Everyone ive spoken to who did go say that there is no point. Every birth is different and unpredictable so whatever they tell you can become irrelevant when the time comes. I did a prenatal yoga class once a week which was more useful at strengthening all the muscles necessary for birth and also focusing on breathing.

I do not think that birth classes are helpful. We can find any informatin on internet nowadays. I would better go to yoga for pregnant or any other exercises for pregnant to prepare yourself physically for labor. Strong uterus muscles - this is what we need!

My husband & I statred a birthing & parenting class around 6 months pregnant & we enjoyed it. Some of it was common sense stuff, but we also learned new birthing techniques, the 9 phases baby goes through immediately after birth, and a bunch of other things. My husband learned more than I did since he has nearly no experience with infants.

Had my first 21 years ago, and yes the class was extremely helpful. But then I got pregnant 6 yrs. later and was so overly confident about my performance from the last labor experience, that I thought I didn't need it. Well it turns out I think the refresher would have helped me, so intend on taking them this time around. Take care.

Make sure you don't go into all this blind but if you're educating yourself then it's not a big deal. I went with my first daughter and found myself dozing through a lot of it.

I never went. Birthing is so random that I dont think it really helps .

I didn't find them very useful but they were a great fun :) especially if you have a partner and he can come with you :)

I just signed up for one through my hospital, i start next week. But a friend of mine told me about a birthing method she used. She delivered drug free and nearly painless. It uses a deep medatative technique called hypnobirthing. She had a realy quick labor too because she was relaxed. I just bought the book and am reading it now. Its called Hypnobirthing by Marie Mongan. It was 13 on amazon
