does platlet count decrease in pregnancy

I am in 37th week of pregnancy.my platlet count is 1.6 lacs and doc is saying it should be more than 2.5 lacs .ihave hb c9.8. pls let me know

No, platelet counts do not go down in pregnancy. I have essential thrombocythemia, my platelets are high. They are currently 1.875 million which is 6 times the high end of normal. I would discuss your platelet count with your OB and follow up with a specialist if necessary. However, don't be scared. Even with my outrageous counts my baby is doing excellent! Good luck!
