dperession and hormones

I have add a post partum depression with my first child. I am now 38 and considering the possibility of #2 (maybe?! since all about my first child was very difficult). I once said hormones are not my friend. I have met a woman who experienced the same type of depression as I and also thinks that MAYBE another pregnancy could be one to set things back to normal...another load of hormones. Boy would I welcome that...and even more another baby.
What is your thought on that girls? Any is appreciated.

Oh and I didn't touch on the part of hormones setting things back to normal.   Are you still experiencing depression ??? Did it ever go away?????   I honestly don't think the hormones would set things back to normal, however.  But of course it's just my opinion.

Honestly it's so hard to say what will happen with post partum depression.  You may not even experience it at all with your second.  I think if you were prone to depression prior to pregnancy you may be at higher risk to get it post partum.  Unfortunatetly there are no guarantees, but there is Paxil!

Your post really hit me tonight...all week I've been feeling depressed, not really sure why.  It runs in my family and I did get a bit of after my 2nd baby was born.  I didn't have it all with the first one.   And then it's even hard to say that my depression that I experienced after baby number 2 was born was pregnancy related or not, as I was having relationship problems with the father at the time.  Who knows...maybe the change in hormones made me more "sensitive" towards depression.   Sorry I probably wasn't very helpful.  But like I said if it gets pretty bad after you have your next baby you can always talk to your PCP.
