gluecose testing

well... I had my gluecose testing this morning. the three hour one. YUCK... oh... I hated it!!! I didnt relize they poked you four diffrent times! hard enough for one. my veins slip alot! oh.. the pain!! lol the tech wasnt the best either.. smile.. she would poke and dig for the vien...like a hook..fishing lol..  and I just figured out its sugar that makes my legs have that RLS!! the three hours I was there just wanted to run around the block. damn.. maybe I do have problems with sugar?? ugh.. I m just glad its over and all is doen. Ill find out in a couple of days. wish me luck. I think I just might need some..

Ugh!  I had to do this before BFP and I am sure I will have to do it again with a BFP.  I remember I took tons of magazines, my mp3 player, and graded papers and was finished with everything within an hour!  HA!  One of the nurses is "tough" on the ol' veins..I get her almost every time!  She moves the needle around sometimes and it about makes me hurl!

hopefull lissamjr.. you wont have a digger like i did!!  too bad they dont just put a temp cap on. would be sooo much better. even the lady taking mine said she wished they would do that. They last poke she ended up using a small needle but as far as I could tell there wasnt much diffrence. smile

make sure you bring lots of things to do. I brought two books, but was having such a sugar high... I guess? wanted to run!! sitting in a chair was the worst for me.. couldnt get comfortable and into the books.   my dd mp3 player would of been helpful... wish I would of thought of that... good luck.

i was restless like that during the one hour test. couldn't sit still and concentrate on my book. when it came time to take blood again after the hour was up, she tried to use the same arm and was chasing the vein. didn't work, so had to use the other arm. i cannot imagine what they're gonna do sticking me 4 times. fun, fun, fun!

oh.. yuck.. the drink they give you is even worse then the first one hour... she told me it was double the sugar.. oh you poor thing..to me that was worse then the needles!
the ob told me the only thing I can have was water, and when I got to the clnic.. she told me no water!! so you may want to look into that?  I would hate for it to throw the test. I will not do that again... ha ha...
I wish I could of told you it was a piece of cake... but sry..sounds like you have it like I did. slippery viens and the RLS. ugh..One good thing is every once in a while there will be a mom to be  come in for the hour testing...lol someone to talk to, with same intrest.

What a horrible time you had!! I had my one hour today and I am dreading the results. One hour was long enough, I can't even imagine 3!!!! Good luck I hope your results come back great!!!

i had my regular checkup today and asked about having water at the test. they told me no water, nothing. doesn't sound very fair to me. ha-ha. i told the dr since i was only 11 points over on the one hour test, could he give me a break on the 3 hour. he said nice try.

Teresa- You know, I also think all the sugar makes your RLS act up because I could not sit down for 5 minutes the whole 3 hours! My daughter and I walked every inch of that hospital it seemed! If you stuck to the diet I'm sure you passed. I did with flying colors.. actually, my last one was only 89! Which is weird, but I'll take it!

oh.. I hope so patty.. and yes I did very well with the diet.. even better Im sure.. had family cook for me and I kept it going... I bet I gained 5lb... ha ha.. I even did it for 4 days to be on the safe side...

Well the diet they had me on, they told me if I stuck to it and failed then it truly wouldn't be my fault. My doctor told me that they regulate it so much that you are taking in all the right nutrients, calories, fat and sugar and if it still comes back high then it's just something lacking in your body.

I'm sorry Tennessee that you had a 'digger' for your blood draws.  I remember getting all of these lab tests when I was ttc and the 1st 11 weeks of pregnancy. I always got the 'digger' and I kept pointing out the vein to use.  She never would start w/that one but would end up using it.  B!tch!!!  Sorry for that - I'm praying the results turn out good.

yea.. 40mama..sometimes I wonder if they do it on purpose.. lol I took blood many times working in the ER... many years ago.. and you are to go in quick and she went in slow.. and dug!! I wanted to slap her. lol lol... you try and four warn them, and I guess they take it personal.. like I know what im doing type of attitude.. of course I didnt relize she was doing it 4 times. so I said nothing till she was going for the second round.

I still have a slight bruise on my arm from my last 3 hour test and that was 2 1/2 weeks ago!!!  I have horrible veins, to the point they make me drink water because I get dehydrated and then they can't find my veins even more.  

Apparently I passed my 3 hour, but just barely and I spilled sugar at my last appt, so now I'm on a 2200 calorie diabetic diet and have to monitor my sugar at home 2x a week.  I go back to doctor on Monday for follow up, hopefully I won't spill then and can maintain my levels on the diet.  It sucks....ice cream no more :(  but I have actually lost 2 pounds since last Thursday when I started on it...

I took my computer and worked when I had mine.  They are miserable, and I made sure I didn't have to do it again!! I hope your numbers are good, but if not, just pm me if you want some tips on diet and stuff.  I had RLS before pregnancy and boy did it get bad while I was pregnant.  I don't think it is the sugar, I believe it is stress and inactivity, that makes it worse.  The last trimester was the worst.  I drive alot and it really acted up in the car, I would have to move my legs constantly.  I probably wasted so much gas, pushing the pedal down, then letting off, down, then off, haha. That was the biggest reason I wasn't getting any sleep and couldn't take naps during the day.  Watching a movie all the way through was impossible too, just sitting on the couch.  I always had to be doing something.  I feel for you, it is miserable.  Let us know what your numbers are when you get them.

amd I too think the rls has to do with sugar or carbs at least.. mine always is worse after I eat 2 ice cream cones haha

yea.. mel..  RLS...I wonder too. just seems funny.. that was the first time it happened durning the day!!  I would only get mine at night. so ... I think it was the sugar. she told me on the 3 hr one its like having two of those orange drinks...lol
I think Im going to call tomorrow if I dont hear from them by 3.00..they told me at the blood place.. 2 days. I really think I passed it. lol..like I said I was on the diet for 4 days just to be safe and boy did I eat!!! I made sure I ate all food groups to a T. and made sure I ate every 3 hours.
I bet I gained plenty too...

haha... well lets hope you passed because it is easier on you that way because you can eat without thinking but if you didn´t it won´t be the end of the world and it is only for what a couple of months

well the only thing that would upset me is that dibetic is one of the sign of problems with the lupus. so I would have to go and see a high risk ob and get more testing done. really bad sign for lupus and prego.. oh... I dont want to even think of that. so anyway... Im just hoping it will turn out neg. just for all the right reasons... smile I got my fingers crossed.
