has anyone been induced?

I'm eactly 1 week overdue and i'm scheduled for an induction in 6 hours!!! I really don't want to be induced. I feel the baby could come on its own very soon and i rather give him a few more days. I'm wondering has anyone bin induced? the more i read about induction the more im turned off by it! im young and healthy and i think extending for a few more days wont affect the baby.

I know it is probably too late to respond now, but my understanding from a number of sources including my doctor is that 40 weeks is an average and that it is normal to deliver up to 2 weeks early to 2 weeks late. Your intuition seems to be speaking quite clearly to you that your baby is coming soon - naturally! Personally, unless there is specific reason for concern in your case, I think inducing at 41 weeks is premature. The medical community likes to induce because it keeps things manageable on their end and predictable but is not healthy in my opinion. It greatly increases the likeliness for the need for a C-section and can make labor more painful due to intense contractions too early on. If you go later than two weeks then I think inducing is fine.

I was induced at 39wks and had pitocin like stuff in the drip and they broke my waters and than got an epidural had a great 9hr labor its not that bad. But if ur already progressing and dilated they may just brake ur waters than it will probably all happen on its own =) goodluck

The longer you go, you also begin to risk meconium aspiration. Just look at the risks AND benefits of being induced & see which outweigh the other.

I was induced with both previous pregnancies. Honesty, it was pretty easy and complication free. My first was a longer labor (as most are) however she was turned wrong also. My second was only 2 hours from start to finish. Now I'm on to pregnancy #3 and I've never gone into natural labor and I'm nervous about that. Lol

I would go the same route as you. I know a couple people that went a month over due date and the babies were just fine. Your kid can cook a little longer and be just fine.

I will be induced on the 2nd if she is not here yet..due Christmas.  My doctor will not let you go much farther than 41 weeks because after that the placenta can start to deteriorate and provide less of what baby needs making the risk of still.birth increase. I have been at 2 cm for three weeks and she doesnt want to come out. I don't want to be induced and don't like medicine in the best of times (haven't even taken a Tylenol this pregnancy) but gotta keep baby safe and healthy. Good luck!

They dont like the baby to stay in too long after its due date. Ive been induced at 41 close to 42 weeks..all they do is break your water. I suggest talking to your ob/midwife . Hope everything goes well
