headaches

Has anyone else been having headaches with their pregnancy?  I am 17wks pg and have been having headaches for about 3 wks now.   They almost feel like sinus headaches, since it hurts to touch my face around my eyes, but Sudafed nor Tylenol seem to help.  My doc thinks that they are hormone related.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok - sorry I was so late posting on this - I've read it several times and just now thought about this - doh - can I blame brain farts on pregnancy?  Sure I can! lol

Do you see a chiropractor?  Mine told me - makes sense too - as your wee one starts growing - you start changing the way you hold your body - you are using muscles that you normally don't use - plus if you are used to say sleeping on your belly and you are trying to be good and sleep on your side - your body is adjusting to that as well - I have been getting some headaches - and when I get them a couple of days in a row, I go visit my chiropractor and get an adjustment - aahhhhh - sweet relief - headaches go away until I throw everything out of whack again - just ask before you go if they are familar with treating pregnant women - I'm sure you could ask chiromom if you have any questions - but it's non invasive and non medicinal - and it REALLY helps me - give it some thought

Thanks for your responses.  I am glad to know that I am not in pain alone!!! LOL  Anyway, I got over the headache I had on Saturday, and haven't had one since.  It's about that time for me to get another one, although I hope I've had the last one.

orphanannie.....yes, I have TMJ and I do grind my teeth.  I had a night splint made for me by my dentist, but I have lost it and have not replaced it since.  I have noticed when I have a headache that my TMJ is sore too.  I have tried the cheap ones and it seems like I hurt worse in the mornings after wearing them.  I think that I try to bit them away since they are so bulky.

well my post made as much sense as a 1 yr old.  i meant when pg i grind more than usual.  you have to be careful with nightgaurds that arent made to fit, it can actually tweak your bite and cause more inflamation.  anyway if they are in the brow its most likely due to the sinus and hormones.

I was getting headaches for a while and thought they were sinus realted as well....I was coughing alot (post nasal drip?) they have since subsided but believe our hormones can be so cruel.  good luck

well i have a nightgaurd i wear anyway nightly, i made it at my dental office i used to work at.  i did the same with my son.  it could be that but i do believe its also pregnancy related (well mine anyway). tylenol didnt help mine either, i just had to get past the 18-19 week mark, i hopeit works for you too.

I've been getting them every night and I'm dying...they hurt so bad...my OB said I could take Tylenol but it isn't helping :-(  I think I'll try that mouth guard yet I get them throughout the day.

Do you grit or grind your teeth at night, (tmj)?  I have had it for a while and use a guard at night when I am really stressed.  Those headaches usually hurt around your temple area and it is also tender to the touch.  If you run out of options, you could try one of those guards from Wal-mart.  They are a little more bulky than ones from your dentist, but they could help the headaches.
