help me if you can

i see a family practice doc, don't have money to see a RE.  She started me on clomid 50 mg with my last cycle and it regulated me fairly well.  I was wondering what you guys are using for hormone triggers to trigger your ovulation.  I have been reading some posts and lots of posts mentioned hormone triggers.  I'm an RN and my doc trusts me and will prescribe whatever I ask she just doesn't know anything about fertility stuff because it is not her specialty.

Instead of a family practice physician, can you afford to see an ob/gyn?  I'm just thinking that a ob might be more knowledgable about fertility issues.

I haven't used any injectibles so I can't be too much help.  Also try posting this question on the fertility forum.  Those ladies know their stuff & are very supportive - best of luck to you!

alot of insurance covers RE but not IVF, I would take a shot at it, I am an RN too, your lucky because my family doc would never prescribe hormones, however clomid is a good place to start if your not ovulating, gonal F which is an injectable is what I took, it stimulated ovaries to produce follicles

I have used clomid but never a hormone trigger.  Please don't take this as a negative, it's not intended to be at all, but I wouldn't use anything like that unless you can be properly monitored by at least an OB/GYN.  I just don't think it's a good idea to mess around with anything unless you are under the care of a Dr. that knows about it.  Just my 2 cents.  I wish you all the best of luck.

Are you taking about the trigger shot to induce ovulation after you've been taking meds of some type to stimulate your ovaries?

Once i took clomid for 5 days and repronex injections for two days and then the trigger shot i took was called ovidrel.

But if you're just taking clomid, you probably don't need a trigger shot.

I'm with 40sMama....try to get your infertility treatment at the very least overseen by an OB/GYN.    I wouldn't trust my FP to handle this.

Also if you're at the point of stimulating your ovaries with injectibles you probably need ultrasounds to monitor follicle growth on the ovaries.

And I was about 40 when I took clomid and as I recall I was taking a lot more than 50mg.

I don't have insurance until April 1 because I just started a new job, that is my plan to see an ob/gyn.

On a side note you might jsut want to wait until your insurance to start anything..you don't want to be hit with a preexisting clause.
