infertility and gluten intolerance

After talking with another member about gluten intolerance (thanks sherri) I did some research on it. I didn't realize that the gluten intolerance is linked directly to infertility and not just thru problems it creates (like thyroid). I have not been eating gluten for about a year now (well, I do splurge some) after my DH discovered many of my problems have been linked to it (thyroid, stomach issues, acne, etc). I thought I would post a site I found that has some research about unexplained infertility and gluten intolerance. I don't have celiac disease but my body just doesn't like gluten for some reason. I have my thyroid under control but I think I'm going to discuss the gluten thing with my doc also. Maybe I'll have to cut out the spurges completely! Ug! Anyway here is one site but there are lots more if you want to google them:

I don't know much about this - all I can say is that my colleague went to a well known RE here in NY and he suggested a special diet including cutting out all gluten and dairy (and she did not have any history of gluten intolerance)  So there must be some connection - but she also has pretty severe endometriosis.

HI mjmom, I had heard that gluten intolerance can affect fertility, I have celiac disease (from 9 months of age) and admit that I went through a period of around 15 years where I did not stick to my gluten free diet.  However it didn't interfere with my fertility, I had 4 babies, lol - perhaps I was just lucky.  I shall have to take a look at the link you've posted - thanks :-)
