Hi I wanted to ask the community a question. I just turned 39 a few days ago. I tried one IUI in March, no luck.
I did not try in April, but tried again on May 22nd. The doctor suggested that I try IVF if the second attempt is not succesful. I am really on the fence about this. I am afraid of all the druga and injections, and feeling sick.
In a few days, I will have eight weeks vacationVacation health care from work. Insurance pays for all, would I be foolish not to try? Any suggestions? Advice?
If your insurance pays for everything you should try ivf since success rate is much higher than that for IUI. Also, do not delay. My biggest regret is waiting and losing time.
As for injections, those were much easier than I thought. I had no side-effects from ivf drugs. The emotional rollercoaster can be overwhelming though.
Perfect timing. Go for it! I was on the fence also but I decided I did not want to regret it years from now. I'm 26 weeks now and I am so happy. Good luck.
When I was 38 and single, I went through IVF to freeze eggs and it was not a big deal. Correction: physically it was not a big deal (emotionally it was as can be expected as for anything you want really badly). I absolutely hate needles and have almost passed out from having blood drawn, so I was surprised how easy it was to get used to, and it's a pretty quick process.
Given your age, I would not delay a day! A doctor told me that in our late 30s fertility declines 5% each month. (and we start from a lower place than someone younger). Don't stress out - plenty of people easily get pregnant into their 40s..but might as well not risk it. You are lucky to have such a great insurance policy!
Wow, you're fortunate to have great insurance. I agree w/others: don't, don't delay especially that you're only 39 w/insurance and vacationVacation health care. The injections aren't too bad - it's for a good cause!
