miscarriage?

I am 42 years old and have had four healthy kids.  I had a miscarriage a year and a half ago and then an ectopic pregnancy right after that.  Just recently, I had a positive home pregnancy test.  I am not sure of my the first day of my LMP because I wasn't keeping track because we weren't trying to get pregnant.   I made an appointment with my OB/Gyn and she did an ultrasound.  I was thinking I could be 8 weeks pregnant.  When she did the ultrasound it showed a small yolk sac with what appeared to be an embryo inside but no heartbeat.  She said it didn't look like an 8 week sized sac.  I told her my dates could be off and she made an appointment for us to come in a week later.  I am still having strong pregnancy signs, no bleeding or cramping, nausea in the morning and very sore breasts.  How likely do you think it is that I could have miscarried?

I'm very sorry for your loss! I've been through the same in november, first u/s showed a younger pregnancy with a starting heartbeat, the second u/s didn't show no heartbeat! Wish you all the best and hope for a very fertile 2008!

thanks all for your advice....and well wishes.  I miscarried Christmas Eve...but my Dr. says its a good thing since most miscarriages occur due to chromosomal abnormalities.  We are going to try this time!!!  Wish us luck.

SSM if your dates are off things could be OK.  I would try to think positive and wait for your next appt.

andyI'm sorry you are going through this.  I wish you the best

I'm sorry for what both of you are going through. Good luck on your next appointments and I hope you both receive good news. When I had my missed miscarriage, my doctor gave me a perscription for cytotec which helped the miscarriage pass naturally. No D&C was needed. Took about 1 1/2 weeks for the entire process because we started out with a low dosage, then gradually increased. Best wishes for you both.

I am going through exactly what you are...other than I know the exact date of conception(IVF), and we had our u/s at 7wk5d w/ a sac, fetal pole, but no h/b. Doc said it would end w/ a m/c...(which he said naturally could take up to 6 wks...ugh! w/ out doing a d&c or medication) but I still have all of the symptoms, too...and it is driving me crazy. Is there a possibility that "maybe"? or is my body just not rejected the embryo, yet and still have those hormones. I would sure like to know, like you. This nausea is making me crazy! And i have had no cramping or bleeding, either. I am going to make an appt. on Monday (fertility clinic is open) and get in on Wed. to ck w/ u/s so I can decide whether to d&c or medication to speed up the m/c..i know I can't wait for 6 wks. Any insight on this would be great!!!
Hope you are doing ok! :O)
