It's optional at my practice if you're over 35. They're more expensive though so if cost is a factor you may want your regular OB office to do it. I do recommend genetic testing for peace of mind but that's expensive too
It is just a post 35 thing. I loved mine unlike an ultrasound at you ob the doctor di especially the scan and shows you all sorts of things and tells you everything right then...don't panic....;-)
I am 37 on baby nmbr 7. Because of my age, it was labeled high risk. I've seen the perinatologist 3 times so far. No bad news. But each time I get a sonogram. First visit was for a full anatomy scan. M3aning the check and measure all of babys vital organs and check whatever physical features they can to detect any abnormalities. So far, I've been blessed and all sonos and tests have come back with great results. I wouldn't worry myself if I were you, unless they give you reason to. Good luck!!
I'm not sure about that type of ultra sound but it could just be because of your age. I'm 35, prego with my 3rd. My 1st pregnancy- ultra sound and screenings were so different (I was 29). With my last i was considered high risk (the baby was fine I just have a hard time with pregnancy) so this pregnancy there monitoring me not as often but every 8 wks. They also very politely said my age again puts me at high risk. Don't stress about it until you really know. That's easier said than done but stress is bad for you and the baby.
