predisone while pregnant

ok... Friday I saw the dr again after being on an anotobotics for 5days, sterioldshot, and an inhailer, and he cracked my ribs, putting one back in place that I had thrown.

This is a new dr I have now because my old one moved. Its been 2005 the last time I was sick. but when I get sick.. Its always bad and when I have the baby he wants more test for lupus..my other dr was asking for test and I just ignored him... anyway.. He put me on prednisone 20mg. for a week. Im filling better!!  should I stop taking them? I would hate to get sick again... not one to like to take pills and omg.. the side effects.... I looked them up with pregnancies. My dr did tell me being in the third trimester for me not to worry... they will be safe. but... you just cant help but worry and he is a new dr.

what do you guys thing?

try not to worry too much.. lupus is very treatable... like I said my mom has had it for like 20 years and she worked as a teacher until 5 years ago when she retired.. she now works out everyday and takes trips to tailand and egypt.. even rode an elephant through the jungle and she is 68 haha... she only weighs like 124 now and has not had a flare up for years... As long as she takes her meds everyday she is fine...

but, we think her mom died from it... she died at about 54 and her symptoms were being very tired and other lupus like symptoms.. she laid down on the couch one night and that was it... they did not know about lupus back then... now there is really good treatment if you find a good dr.

Good luck and try not to worry.. even if you do have a flare up after birth.. they will treat it and you will be fine..

yea.. I read other post... where they were having those problems. He only gave me 7 days worth to take care of the inflamation I have in my lungs. geez... What I have read about lupus and pregnancy Is that you can have another breakout after the baby is born! This scares the hell out of me. I dont think I can go thru this agin. Last night my left side is bothering me now and filling up!
The dr told me if the prednisone doesnt help to go back in. I thought it was working till Today! Took the meds and now fill better. guess I need to just wait another day befor I call.
The more I have been reading about it.. I just may have it. thru out the years of going to the dr. all the symptons make perfect clear now. I dont go that often, but when I did they would just treat the sympton and it would get better. but never knew what the cause was.  It says it can take a long time to determin if you actually have it or not. and pregancy does throw the testing so I cant do it now.

being pregnant it states you may want to take asprin? I will have to let my OB know what the deal is and perhaps just as a preventative? I dont know, for atleast durning labor time.

This pregancy seems to be just one issue after another, this morning I was up crying fear of dieing after the baby was born. Im sure its my nerves and stress, and still being sick. and hormones!!!! perhaps. I know when your sick things just dont seem to have a sunny side to them... ugh.. sry had to vent alittle... Thanks Mel

tennessee... my mom has lupus like I said but never has had a rash with it.. there is one kind where you get a rash and another where you don't... about predisone you can take it for lupus my mom took it for many years... but I advise not to take it for lupus... it was VERY hard for her to get off of it.. after being on it for years her body would not let her get off of it and everytime she would try the lupus would get really bad.. the prednisone made her gain a lot of weight and look very puffy.. she was finally able to wean herself off little by little over many years... there are other meds that are better for lupus without all of the side effects... if you end up having it be sure to shop for dr.'s and find someone who knows what they are doing..

I am prone to sinus infections and 2+ years ago when I started ttc, my general practitioner said prednisone is actually one of the safe drugs to take when pg.  So, not to fear if I got an infection while pg.

Hormones can really impact an lupus test.  I tested positive for lupus several years ago, but after months of tests and changing birth control pills, I tested negative.  My rheumatologist said that probably my bc pills were so strong that my body could not process the hormones and caused lupus symptoms.
He said that is rare, but it happened.

He really didnt seem to worried about the Lupus. He said even if I did have it that this prednisone will help it? but if it doent help He wants to do more testing. if not... guess I wont see him till after baby..

I really dont think I have it... I work in the outdoors all the time. The rash I got in 2005 I think... was a bad case of poisen ivy.. and no body new what it was. yea.. hell they even sent me to an skin dermentolgist to try and see. he told me it was to late, the blisters were dry and he needed to see when they first came on.

I will get it check out though.. Just want to get rid of what I have, and boy was it bad!! Just got up from a nap and fill still weak. and tight in the chest.

I guess Ill just keep taking the meds till there gone. Just didnt like the side effects.. pre labor was one of them... ugh.. but then again.. so is my age... eeeeek... lol :p
Thanks guys....

My mom has lupus and you should get tested for it.. it can have implications in pg...  take care it is a serious desease that you can die from but can be controlled with meds.. my mom was diaganosed 20 years ago and she is great now but she almost died from it because it surrounded her heart and they couldn´t figure out what was causing her problems... she was in the hosipital for like 3 weeks...  before they figured it out.. good luck..
}

I took the test that would see if I had a probablity for getting lupus with my last dd and it came out neg... doesn´t mean I can´t get it just means that it is not probable...

I think you should ask your Doctor before stopping the prednisone. I have asthma and sometimes have to take prednisone when I get a bad cold. They told me not to stress about it during pregnancy, and thank goodness I did not have to take it during the first trimester.
Maybe you should take the tests he is recommending for lupus. If nothing else it might put your mind at ease. I'm glad you are feeling better.
