scheduled C section

Hello everyone

I am reaching out for some opinions. Certain friends and family members i talk to don't get it because they are not pregnant. Ok so this is my fourth and last child. I am considered high risk due to my age (bubbling 41) previous issues with high blood pressure and fibroids. When I got pregnant my OB said C section will be scheduled for June 1st. All my genetic testing, blood work, blood pressure..is good... Now i am 27 weeks and he tells me he is not going to do the c section on June 1st and we will wait and see how things go... Seriously??? I told him i need to know so I can make arrangements for my children and get paperwork ready for my job... So my question is.. Should i keep bringing it up or wait till about 30 weeks to say something about a date? I really wanted to head butt him but that's not sexy. Thanks in advance for any input

I think the date was important, is he now saying you don't have to have a c-section and can deliver vaginally? Or is he saying you can have the c-section when labor starts? Ask him to go over the plan again bc you need to know the baby will be safe regardless of how the birth happens. Don't wait to ask.

First of all - congrats for being taken off of the mandatory C-Section list - that is a good, healthy sign, right? I think the view from the medical community is that a vaginal birth the ideal which is why he probably switched you. It is healthier for the baby and safer for the mother from what my research has shown. I'm not judging - just saying what I've read. This is my first pregnancy and I find the "no idea when I'm giving birth" thing a little stressful too because I am a planner - but my employer is just going to have to deal with it and I think they're used to the uncertainty around maternity leave. I've read that if you already have children to set up someone to be "on call" - so you they can swoop in and take care of everything at a moment's notice whether it is 2AM or 2PM. Being a mother of three I'm sure you are awesome at juggling so many things! Good luck!

I would be upset too. I would keep bringing it up at all dr apts. Although even if you schedule the C it may not end up on that day. I've had 2 Cs. 1st baby was 2 wks early, but was a emergency C, 2nd baby came 18 days early.  now, prego with 3rd, and I'm trying to get everything figured out with my 2 older children (7yrs & 18 months) I'm a little OCD, like everything organized, planned (although w/ babies I know it's hard to plan anything) & my dr pushed back my due date by a week... What!?!? I was so upset (I cried when I left the office) They changed my 1st babies due date 3 times (I'm petite, never gain a lot of lbs when prego but still had babies 7+lbs). But it's VERY upsetting when the dr changes the "plan". I'm going to talk about it at every appointment, make sure he really has the right date. I'm 28 weeks now (again :-/)
