Oh and car seat. If you don't have one, you can get an infant on from your hospital. Mine sells infant carseats for $20 for parents that show up without one.

Blanket
Muslin swaddle
Hat (head gets cold even in summer)
Onsies for summer
Footies rest of the year(get the ones with built in mitts)
Diapers
Cloth or disposable wipes
Mucus sucker (free from hospital)
Thermometer
Nail clippers/scissors
Wash cloths
Baby wash
Burp cloths (I used cloth diaper inserts as burp cloths. Cheaper and super absorbent)

Diapers but leave them unopen because if they are to small you can exchange them. Car seat, crib, mitten are more for keeping baby from scratching his or herself, breast pads for leaking boobs, waterproof pad for crib, bottles, maxi pads, pacifier, etc....

Mild soaps are best for baby.
I always get a big pack of wipes as you can never have too many.
Receiving blankets are always good to double as burp cloths.
You won't need mittens in the summer.
Onesies are always great to have plenty.
Socks
I would get a few bottles even if you plan on bf. Things happen and you may not be able to nurse.

Onsies, socks, swaddling blankets(u can also use as burp cloths), towels, thermometer, nail clippers.

Thats the main stuff I would say. I like her idea above instead of buying soap but ur choice. If u do buy soap, less perfume the better. Good luck
