How did you know you were going to be high on day 18 and 19 so you could try on the days before????
Hi I had a short luteal phase but still had my son (17 months). I used a shop bought LH indicators and I was high on day 18 and 19 of a 28 day cycle. I tried on day 13, 15, 17 in the cycle to get him. Being relaxed helps and I was on holiday. I was worried I wouldn't conceive because I was 35.
The luteal phase is the time from when you ovulate to the day your period begins. Some also call if DPO (days past ovulation).
sorry to be dim but what exactly is the luteal phase??
Within 2 or 3 cycles from starting the vitamin supplement, my luteal phase was longer and I became pregnant with our 2nd baby. Everything must have been fine when I became pregnant with our 3rd baby because we weren't even trying to get pregnant that time!
I am with you, why not at least check the progesterone too! Hopefully you can have them check that as well. Good luck!
I just figured that the test my doc has ordered does not include checking the progestrone level. I am furious . I cant understand why after 2 Mcs, checking my prog. is not in order. Instead she has ordered HCG!!!, and FSH. Is she NOT taking me seriously? I can understanfd why shbe ordered FSH, but HCG? I am telling her that I just got my period and she orders a HCG test!!!!!!!
I have a friend who has a short luteal phase and she had to go to a fertility specialist. He was able to lengthen her luteal phase with the use of some fertility drugs and she got pregnant immediately. She now has two beautiful little girls!

Thanks, so did it take 2 months from when you started taking the B6 to see the change?
I had a short luteal phase when trying to get pregnant with my 2nd baby (discovered while charting cycles). I started taking a good quality vitamin B-6 supplement from a local health food store and within just a couple of months, my luteal phase was back to normal. I've had two healthy pregnancies and babies since. Best wishes!
(you can google "short luteal phase, vitamin B-6" to find articles online with more information)
For those of you TTC, the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" is what helped me chart to discover the short luteal phase and end my "unexplained infertility". Great book! (www.tcoyf.com)
I also have the hair loss and irregular periods. I read somewhere that B6 will help...so I am going to try that. I also am getting blood work done next week - so maybe I will find out then some news.
I am sorry you are also having a hard time...but it seems this issue can be corrected which is good news. I am hopeful :)
Thanks for the post...my dr has not told me yet. We are going to do some blood work next and then we will see. Good luck with your #2!!
Did you find out your luteal phase from a blood test by the doctor or are you indicating it based on either ovulation kits or basal body temperature? I do know that if your luteal phase is shorter than 10 days, it can make it much more difficult to get pregnant - why though, I'm not exactly sure. I've just been doing some online research on my own since I believe I am currently having a longer luteal phase than what is normal for me.
I've been trying for #2 about a year and a half now. Good Luck to you.
Forgot to mention that I too had a miscarriage last year.
Oh my god, I am going through the same thing. I dont know about you, but I have so many other symptoms as well (decreased libido, hair loss, irregular periods...). I did some research online, and it seems that they are the sign of low progestrone. I am soooo concerned.
Well, I am using the Ovulation predictor kit which indicates I am about to ovulate, then my period comes just 9-10 DPO (days past ovulation) later vs. the normal 12-14. After some reading it seems this could affect the ability for implantation.
how can you tell you have short leutal phase. I am suspecting that I have the same problem(I get my period much earlier than two weeks after ovulation), but I am not sure if this is what is called a short leutal phase.
