sick and need advice

Hi ladies....I am 18 weeks and a type 1 diabetic.  I have been fighting a horrible sinus infection and double ear infection for two weeks. I am on antibiotics and taking Tylenol and cough syrup.  My ears are killing me and it feels like I am swallowing razor blades. My esophagus is so swollen that every time I get sick...about 10 times a day. I feel like I am going to choke.  I live where an ice storm has hit and my doctor is closed.  Do you think if I go to the ER they will do anything other than tell me to keep doing what I am doing? This is really kicking my rear and I am not a whimp.

I went to the doctor two weeks ago...and a week ago. The ice storm just hit on monday. Thank you all for the advice.  All the meds I have been on have been approved by my ob. I will try the salt. I am miserable.

I use an ear dropper and hydrogen peroxide for ear infection. Leave the solution in your ear for 20 minutes. Repeat process when ache in ear returns.

Breathe salt (freshly grinded sea salt) and warm boiled water up your nose and then blow it repeatedly 5-8 times 4 to 5 times a day for 2-3 weeks. I use this method and although a long process it works. Pushes all the crap out. Gluck

Where did you get antibiotics if you haven't gone to the doctor yet? Be careful with cough syrup, many are not safe when pregnant. I would definitely go to the ER if your doctor is not available, as others have said, dehydration is dangerous. I'm assuming you're closely monitoring your blood sugars too as they can get out of control when your sick.

I would go to ER if you're unable to keep fluids down because dehydration is dangerous. I had to have IV after 10-12 hours of puking every 45 mins/hour.  They also gave me anti nausea drug in IV.  At least call OB to discuss if phones are working.  It still took about 24 hours after IV before I started to feel better. Good luck mama.  If you can keep fluids down try teas/rehydration fluids if you're able to drink those as diabetic.

I doubt it. Are you gargling salt water? Keeping hydrated? Do you have a Nettie pot with the proper saline solution?  If not get one ASAP and start using it! It will get at the source and really help! Sorry you're so sick, hope you feel better soon!
