strange bulge above my navel

Hello, i am 27 weeks pregnant and noticed something a bit different last night(this is my first pregnancy...so maybe it is normal). i was lying in bed with my gown raised, watching the baby wiggle around, and when i leaned up a little bit i seen what looked like a bulge about 3 inches above my navel,it didnt hurt and was real soft to the touch. It was just kind of weird...like a small ball protruding out. Can anyone help me with this one??

I too had an umbilical hernia - it was repaired about four months after Noah was born because the pain increased w/time.  That's the worse case scenario that you'll have to have any kind of surgical intervention if you have one.  Good luck on your upcoming birth!

Well I cant say for sure, you might want to check with your OB. I had a hernia with my last pregnancy. It was a noticable bulge around my belly button that never really went away. I could push it in but it always popped back out. Another thing I thought of when I read this is your muscles seperating which makes a bulge when your laying down and kinda crunch upwards like your going to do a sit up. I have that also from having so many babies, but I believe you can get it with your first also.
If its painful you should get it checked ASAP. If its a hernia and not life threating then you will have to wait untill after baby to have surgery. If its just muscle seperation you can work on that after baby. Cant do any crunches right now, lol:)
Hope this helps:)
