Sudden swelling can be a symptom of preeclampsia, high BP is also another symptom, as is violently throwing up and tenderness around your bump, headaches, dizziness, protein in your wee and blurred vision, one  does not always come with the other unless it's early on in pregnancy... don't be scared follow your gut and if it don't feel right get checked asap, knowledge is power.  Also swelling in the hands &feet IS a normal pregnancy symptom and some the suggestions above are great and will help, just be observant.

Swelling is fine UNLESS it is accompanied by high blood pressure! My pre eclampsia was missed because of a nurse's improper training on taking blood pressure.  If you BP is fine don't worry but do be sure you have it checked regularly.

If you havnt had problems with your blood pressure its not pre clamsia. I've had swelling bad. he said ask long as its not sudden your fine. i can't wear my wedding ring or tenis shoes hardly. but i believe if she has already been pregnant than she knows if something is wrong.

And also if you have excessive swelling in your legs and feet, headaches, protein in your urine and high blood pressure that can be pre eclampsia that is a fact

Umm actually I've seen more than one doctor about it i had swelling with my first and second but not like this look it up or ask a doctor it is possible it will go away after i deliver but doctors say they will have to see every pregnancy is different miss thang so no answers are ridiculous that is what my doctor told me and ace bandages is the only thing that helps so don't bash what anyone's advice is just give yours and keep it at that!

These answers are terrible. Smh. Swelling is normal! Dont freak out. Now if your face suddenly begins to swell you need to get checkedout. But swelling will happen in your hands & feet. I have a sit down job & im 36 wks & my feet look like hams when I get home lol. You need to elevate then & try to get the swelling down. Carpal tunnel syndrome has nothing to do with swelling.  Its swelling around the median nerve which cause pain, numbness, & swelling. Trust me you'll know if you get cts! It *****. I've had it for 10 yrs

Swelling in the hands and feet are a sign of pre eclampsia, I would go to the E.R to make sure that u and the baby are ok and if so then stay off your feet as much as you can.

You're supposed to elevate your feet above your heart. It's hard to do if you're big and uncomfortable like me. I always feel like the baby is in my throat lol. As far as hands go I haven't had anything help. Some days are just better than others. Not much longer to relief comes!
