How long does it take to get lortabs out of your unborn childs system. And will cps take them from the hospital?

They would probably not bother if you had no drugs in your system when baby is born. Loratab is a safe medication during pregnancy and I was prescribed it during pregnancy. Although drs normally prescribe Percocet for pain.  I would suggest making sure your system is clean before birth..

If they take your baby it doesn't have to be permanent.  If you haven't already done so hopefully this would be the wake up call to make your baby the priority and clean up. If you are not able to do that then feel blessed your baby will be taken care of.

I agree w courtly79 and isthatyoubob. Maybe the original poster has successfully weaned herself and is just asking a worst case scenario question. And shouldn't she be able to come to those forum and ask these kinds of questions? She's not suggesting taking pills is healthy for her child. These are just assumptions that the other posters are making.

Well said courtlee78!  Judging people who are hooked on a drug- however that came about is not useful. The fact is someone is asking for help and all these people saying be ashamed or you don't deserve to be a mum.  How about go to your doc, explain you have an issue, want to be a good parent but need help and you start the process to getting off these things that will otherwise ruin your life.
Most people don't realise how horribly physically addictive they are even when taken for pain. Sometimes being pregnant is a great opportunity to have a fresh start.  Hey, and marijuana is just as bad as tobacco for your child but heaps easier to give up than the narcotics or cigarettes.
Hope you get some help.  My advice to everyone else is don't judge another woman until you've walked a mile in her heels.

I don't think judging her is helping anything. The backlash that women get for seeking help and advice in these circumstances is what keeps them from telling anyone in the first place. If any of you have never made a mistake or bad judgement call as a mother than judge on, but we all know that is not the case. I suggest talking to your doctor and let them explain to you what the risks are and see if they can help you and your baby stay healthy. Every situation is different and just because you took some pills during pregnancy does not automatically mean you should lose your child. Good luck and stay strong. Don't let this kind of judgement scare you away from getting help.

I'm scared to take even Tylenol. If I have a headache it better be a dang good one for me to take something. I don't understand why anyone would smoke, drink, or take any kind of narcotic drugs while pregnant. Anyone who would be so selfless and pit their needs before their unborn child should have their child taken away!! I'm glad they are testing the moms and babies now. And like everyone else has said you are more worried about them taking the baby away.

I agree. For 9 months your body is not your own. It belongs to your baby. That's such a short time when you look at it. Be good to yourself, but most of all, be good to your baby who can't defend itself. They baby relies on you for everything! Give him/her a fighting chance in this world.

Exactly cheermom, I don't understand these women who expose their babies to drugs, then get mad when cps takes them.  You know what is going to happen, why risk it for your own selfish wants.  When you're carrying that baby, you need to think of it, instead of yourself.

"Weed" IS that big of a deal. Every unprescribed drug is a big deal and any mother who knowingly exposes her unborn baby to them should not be allowed to keep them.

Maybe you should be taking those kind of drugs while pregnant? All you seem to care about is getting caught, not the effects those drugs Jane on your unborn child.  If you care so little about your child, I hope cps does take them.

Anything you take (drug wise) after 20 weeks will show up in the meconium.

Im sorry, this always irritates me. Why would you take something not prescribed during pregnancy. Especially a narcotic. And NOW you're worrying about the health of your child. So you dont get caught and baby gets taken away. Go talk to your doctor so its not a big surprise. They test the babies meconium for all drugs. I never get women that do this, its really sad.
