My left labia has been like this for 18 years. My first child caused this. It did NOT go away after birth. I'm almost 40 now and it's starting to bother me. I've always been self conscious about it. It's larger then the right side and always purple..what can I do to fix this permanently?

Am curious about support stockings. Dobthey compress the labia area or they don't go high up. Coz mine are not on kegs but come from inside and snake out up to mid -thigh level :-)

I've the same. Had 3 natural births, but the third really was touch and go as it was on the verge of rupturing. I couldn't push, I just had to breath. I had c section with fourth as they didn't want to risk it.

Now with number 5 they are dismissive of the risks and are trying to sway me to have a natural. I'm unsure as with number 3 the vein in my vagina was so swollen as baby was pushing down during labor, it was transparent and fit to burst. It never did but seeing the machines get wheeled in, blood ordered, oh it was freaky.

They are going to check vein nearer the end of preg.

I wear support stockings during day, balance the walking and standing. I sleep with a pillow so I can prop my legs up at night. Sometimes I wear a support bandage at night. I wear leggings too as they help support my legs.

My baby is very low, deep into my back. I feel very achey all the time.

Don't let the docs dismiss your fears. Veins are crucial and are under lots of pressure during preg and labor.

My gp told me to look out for bruising, pain etc, keep him updated so he can help.

Good luck x

Seems like we share a few common things besides varicose veins. Only discovered I was preg at 14 weeks and am 27 weeks now and wld really want vbac but read somewhere saying they usually start inside so was also worried about obstruction of baby. Will try icepack down under, thanks lots

My gyn said wearing a pad but not really compressing the affected area - cant wear tight panties coz my baby can't stand anything tight around groin area. I envy you with home water birth. For me am high risk and wld like to try vbac so will be in hospital with 24 hrs anesthetist in case we need to do a c section. Wld love to have a dedicated midwife as well  coz they are more patient and really patient focused but worried about cost. Thanks

I know exactly how you feel. I thought I had a hernia until I had an ultra sound done found out I was actually 17 weeks pregnant. I'm now almost 30 weeks and they have progressed. down into my left labia.  It is very painful and I have found that standing or work on my feet for more than an hour or more gets unbearable. I am told by my doctor They will disappear after birth but I am also worried I won't be able to have a vbac. I will be.discussing this with my ob at my 36 week appointment. Meanwhile try a cold pack it works wonders. Even though it might make you look like a guy whose been kicked in the nuts...lol!! Swimming also takes the pressure off and can give you some well needed relief. It's also a good way of spending quality time with your other children if playing has.become uncomfortable or difficult. I hope this helps. Good luck. Xo

Yes, i noticed a dark swollen vein down there on the outside, i checked myself because i felt very achey on one side down there. I don't know if it'll go away after birth or not, its the first time its happened to me in pregnancy.

I've never had them in front so I don't know. Can you ask your doctor or do u have a midwife? This is my tenth and I have a midwife. I'm planning on a water birth at home.
