About Me

Hi Everyone!

Yes, It is possible to conceive after having tubal ligation surgery done.  I conceived 7 years after having this surgery done (cut and burned), but we lost our baby at 10 weeks, possibly due to low progesterone and would love to conceive again.  From my research, I found that it doesn't seem to matter how old you are, what procedure you had done or when because women became pregnant anywhere from a few months to years later.  GOD BLESS.

I had my tubal after my 3rd son in 2001. I didn't want it then but felt I had no choice. I was 23 and my husband was 24. We made the best decision we felt at the time. We were just to young to realize how much we were going to regret it. Now after 14 years together and our youngest son being almost 9, we would love to have 1 more. Of course, my hearts desire is and will always be to have a little girl, but at this point I wouldn't care. I just pray one day it will happen for me. I believe it will in my heart and speak it everyday. So, time and God will tell. Please keep me in your prayers and I will do the same!

Blessings to all!!!

I had a tubal after my second child, cut and burned. I ended up getting a divorce and remarrying a man that had no children.  I had a reversal and was only able to get one tube open, therefore I was ovulating on the good side every other month.  We waited a year after the surgery and started IVF. I went thru 5 IVF cycles with no luck. Finally I ended up having to have an ovary removed due to endometriosis, thank God it was the one on the bad side. Once it was removed I then was ovulating on the good side every month.  With in three months I was pregnant.  It took us ten years but we had a health baby boy.  We conceived again two years later with no problems at all.

(I really believe that women should be counseled seriously - by an actualy therapist - prior to an OB agreeing to perform sterilization. Thousands of women every year regret their decision and feel that they weren't adequately counseled about their choice. But OBs will perform the operation without thinking twice - and insurance companies will pay for it without blinking. But they won't even consider reversing that decision. It's terrible)

I agree with you that before getting a tubal woman should really be encouraged to seek other options of BC. I was only 23yrs old when i had mine back in 1984. My ex husband didnt want anymore children and me being so ignorant to what i was about to do went along with it. I dont think a doctor shouldperform a tubal on a woman at that age unless there is a medical reason to. At first i was ok with the idea and thankful because he left me when my girls were little but later when i met my fiance i wished to have a baby with him. I never even thought about being able to get pregnant again. Now i am 48 and missed a period this month after having total normal periods all along. Not only have i missed my period but when i was due i started to have early pregnancy symptoms too. Maybe menopause but some of my symptoms arent menopause related.Going to the Dr.'s next week to find out whats going on with me. I keep thinking..If i didnt know better I would swear I am pregnant!

I pray that this "mistake" happens to me...but to help it along, I'm planning to have tubal reversal surgery. We are saving money and hoping to have the surgery in January or February. Keep my husband and I in your prayers! We had a beautiful baby boy - Ian - in July 2009. I had a tubal ligation at that time. He passed away at eight weeks old due to a brain tumor. Needless to say, we were (and always will be) devastated by our loss. But we are grieving also the inability to have another child because we chose sterilization.

I really believe that women should be counseled seriously - by an actualy therapist - prior to an OB agreeing to perform sterilization. Thousands of women every year regret their decision and feel that they weren't adequately counseled about their choice. But OBs will perform the operation without thinking twice - and insurance companies will pay for it without blinking. But they won't even consider reversing that decision. It's terrible.

Welcome to our Communtiy!

There are many more stories like this floating around Med-Help and all are very unique in nature.  Some of these women have had ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages and  successful pregnancies and birth.

I too, was told this was a permanent operation, but to my surprise, my tubes grew back together after 7 years.  I hope this helps.  God Bless.
