18weeks U/S....

Well, finally the day arrived and it's a BOY!  Everything looks good for him all fingers and toes are in place.  The tech said he weights approx 10 oz!  From what I'm reading that's a lot!

It looks like during my first trimester u/s they saw fibroids in my uterus and they didn't even bother to tell me! I visited my ob/gyn twice after she got my results and again no mention of anything!
I saw another doc today (different form the one who did the 1st trimester's) and he couldn't find them again.  He was very much in hurry, though. So, he concluded that they are probably very small. Good luck and bye bye.

Anybody has any information about fibroids during pregnancy? Is it something I need to be worried about? Obviously, my ob/gyn is not worried or she may just not care...

Thank you all! I am very excited for the boy! I grew up with 3 sisters, 2 of which younger than me so, I have no experience with boys. I hope we'll have our girl too some day, assuming these fibroids don't get in the way! I'm definately going to ask many questions about them to my ob/gyn next week. Hopefully they won't grow very fast, or slow enough to allow for my boy to be born naturally.

Tanker, I see you and your hubby picked the name for your boy! Jacob sounds very cool!  We decided for Michael, after my father-in-law. We'll put my maiden name as a middle name, just a piece of his italian heritage. He was sucking his thumb during the u/s!

Hope everybody is well! thanks again for your help!

Oh, I forgot to comment on the weight.  I had an u/s at 18 and 21 weeks.  Both times the weight they told me was much heavier than what I read that baby would wait during this time.  The Dr hasn't said anything about it.  I have an appointment with my ob/gyn at the end of this month.  I'm gonna ask her then. At my 18wk u/s Jacob weighed 9oz and at the 21wk u/s he weighed 1.2 lbs.

Fibroids are very common.  60% of women will have them in their life time. The serious of them depends on the size and location.  Some will be on the outside of the uterus wall, some will be inside the uterus and some will actually be in the uterus wall.  If the doctors aren't concerned about it, I wouldn't give it too much thought.

Congrats on the Boy.  There have been lots of boy annoucements around here lately.

Do you have any names picked out yet?

A friend of mine had fibroids when pg-but large ones- and yes it was an issue that her dr took very seriously in mind, for example she couldn't have an amnio- but every case is different,i think you should ask yr doctor...
