40 years old with 2nd miscarriage
Ok.  I made   it to 11 weeks 7 days and I felt a stinging twinge of discharge around 2 pm yesterday.  I went to the bathroom not expecting to see a bloody discharge but, I did.  I wiped first and a little discoloration came out and I stopped and thought about it a minute and the second time I did it I went up deeper and pulled out even more heavy bloodish discharge and I knew then something was wrong.  I miscarried back in January 2012 too.  I was 5 weeks then.    I WAS ALMOST THERE!  I had the morning sickness and the breast heaviness and all the cravings and aversions.  I was a social drinker and I stopped that of coarse but I was almost in the clear.  I was ready, we were ready!  This was going to be my fourth child.  My seventh pregnancy.  This was my fourth loss due to micarriage.  ALSO, just as my prior m/c my husband had to go out of town.  Once again, he had to go out of town again and only on a day trip.  WHY or HOW does that happen?  My dr and I decided I would go for a D&C the next day (which went fine) but I was extremely sore following the procedure and layed around the rest of the day.  While I was pregnant I remember thinking; "WOW, I'm almost there, 12 weeks just around the corner  yippee!  I don't think I could do this again.  The sickness is almost gone my abdomin is growing so if I lost it I'd be left without a baby, fat and depressed.  I'm so so so glad I"m almost there"  <--------------------------------- My nightmare became a reality.  We are going to try again.  Maybe wait a few cycles then we'll see what happens from there.  We havent' had any problems getting pregnant, just keeping it's been the problem.  My time clock is running out.  I'm sad today.....any thoughts?

I'm so very sorry.  It's just an awful thing to go through.

I'm going to tell you that reading your story is much like reading my own.  I too had several miscarriages (5), but then went on to have a healthy normal baby boy born just one week before I turned 41.

The reality is that fertility and pregnancy in our late 30's up is tougher.  Some women conceive and carry with no problem at all, others like us have a tougher road to haul.  And the majority of the time it's due to chromosomnal issues, due to the age of our eggs.  There is just nothing you did to cause it, and sadly nothing you could of done to prevent it.

I will share with you what my Dr. told me.  I too conceive quite easily and all my losses occur in the first trimester.  I see an RE that specializes in repeat pregnancy loss. He say's that because I conceive so easily, chances are good you will get that good egg.  It's there, but sadly it can be difficult to find.

Alternatively, if you want a more sure thing, you can look into doing donor eggs or embryo adoption.  It just depends on your feelings on the subject.  I am trying for a second baby and am now 43.  I have had 3 more losses, so I am at the point that I am looking into these alternatives.  It's up to you what you want to do.

I am sorry for what you have been through, and I wish you success soon.  If you want to keep trying on your own, know that the fact that you continue to conceive easily does swing things over into your favor a bit.

All the best to you.

I'm sorry for your losses as well, and I agree with everything adgal has said, I have had 3 babies since turning 40 and 3 miscarriages, so it is do-able, but you  should (as you are) be aware that if you try again, expect miscarriages until that little good egg pops out, you never know it may well be the next one, if your going to try again in a few months there no harm in getting on some suppliments to encourage egg health, also stay off the alcohol, even now it makes a difference, stop or cut down on your caffine intake as well, you should also be on a good pre conception vitamin or at least folic acid, then for egg health you can have royal jelly tablets 2x 1000mg a day and also maca tablets daily as well, maca noursihes the endochrine system, of which the overays are part of that, as well as doing that it can help any hormonal problems as well without actually containing hormones, both maca and royal jelly should be taken for a minimum of 3 months, alternativley you could look into dhea in combination with royal jelly, if  you can afford to do so, I would also look at have 3 cycles of acupuncture as well, and good luck :)
