44 & missed my period for 17 days today

Hi  All, im new to this forum. . I have a question and if anyone can share their similar experience, pls do. Thks. My period has never been late before & it is regular cycle. I missed my period for 17 days already and tested negative for urine. Saw a doc & she checked me for a bit & said maybe peri-menapousal.I had a 16 year old son and since then never been pregnant even i dont use any contraceptive  for the past 15 yrs. . I need some advise. I dont have any menapouse symptom now instead i had more of pregnancy symptom. Is 6 weeks to early to test for pregnancy? Can i still get pregnant at this age?

Though i am much younger than you & have no advice about menopause.. this is my second pregnancy so i have a little experience. With my daughter my urine came back positive immediately & i instantly felt pregnant way before my missed period. I think my positive ept was 6 days before my missed period. This time has been completely different! I didn't feel pregnant, though i had very subtle signs i chalked them up to something else. I tested 2 days before my period was due & got a negative. Missed my period & the next day tested again with a negative. I was like a week late before i got a positive test. So every pregnancy truly is different. You could still be pregnant, don't give up hope if that's what you're wanting.

You can definitely still get pregnant.  I'm 45 and 11.5 weeks pregnant.  However, at 17 days late I would think if you were pregnant you'd be testing postive by now.  At 4 weeks, 6 days I had my hcg tested and it was already 18,762 by then.  At 6 weeks, I saw baby and heartbeat on scan.

If you think you are pregnant, then have doctor do a blood test and that should let you know for sure; however, like I said, by 6 weeks I'd think surely you'd be positive on a urine test.
