44 and hoping

Well I just turned 44 I have a 10 year old and I want another baby really really bad... my soon to be hubby is not sure he wants to have a baby.. I've been working hard trying to convince him... looks like he is almost there.... couple months ago I did a pregnancy test and came out positive then 5 days later I did another one and came out negative... I think I was pregnant for a few days....... I am using progesterone cream and taking vitex... does anyone know about these alternatives....

I'd go to the RE too.....they can help you TTC more agressively than just by BD.   Plus you can get some infertility testing and see where you're at with regard to egg reserve.   Good luck.

Hang in there....it's harder to conceive and maintain pregnancy in your 40s.  I will probably be called Ms. Doom and Gloom for saying that, but you just keep trying and be more agressive with your efforts.

Alexia - since you've tried two months and haven't had any success, I suggest you bypass the ob/gyn and go straight to a reproductive endocrinologist (re) for further testing.  I waited until I was 43 to get really serious about a baby & I really had a hard time.  Hopefully it'll work out but a re is your best bet to see what's going on w/your body.

Of course I wish you best of luck - there are several women who have gotten pregnant naturally and lots who have gotten pg with help - I was one of those but it worked out beautifully - again, SSBD! - jen

Hello dear ladies...
I have been really busy since the last time I wrote something here... there is no exciting news here... I am still trying... nothing has happened... we have tried soooooo much in the last two months it is not even funny!!! without getting into too much detail... I have followed the ovulation calendars and termperature levels and.......... my poor fiance is absolutely exhausted... ;-(  ... I think I am giving up.... I am not very patient when it comes to focusing toooo much to make something happen.... so I guess this is not meant to be....
Good luck to all of you..!!!!!

I know how upsetting it is when AF arrives. I'm 41 and lost my son in Oct. I'm hoping to get pregnant again naturally and soon. I wish you all the luck in the world and maybe next month you'll be telling us that you got a BFP. My best to you. Keep me posted.

well, I'm not a doctor or anything and I don't really know if there is any merit to these claims but some people say that DHEA can make an older woman's ovaries respond like a twenty year-old's... you might want to read into it... I was trying to conceive for over 2 years to no avail but got pregnant after 3 months of taking the stuff... then again, I have no way of knowing if it's a coincidence or not... either way, you might want to read up on it!

good luck! I hope you get your baby!

DONT BE EMBARRASED!!!
None of us are.  People are living so much longer it only makes sense to be able and want to have children later as well:)

sorry.. I think I am going all over the place..
1. went to see MD in regards of the prior 3 week incident. he requested tests (acording to him) to find out if indeed I was pregnant...
2. results did not show any signs of pregnancy.
3. nobody has told me that I have hormone problem
4. a few days before my period I get sooooooo pissed off about everything, and I started usind the progesterone cream and that helps a little so I am assuming my progesterone levels are low.
5. I am embarrased to tell people, I want to get pregnant...
6. I am just doing my own thing hoping to get pregnant naturaly..

Sorry, I guess I'm just not understanding then. A beta/ HCG to test for pregnancy is just one blood test, so I am wondering what else he looked at for you.  I guess I thought it may be other things dealing with fertility, I certainly did not mean to pry. If you like, you might want to ask for a copy of that 3 page's of bloodwork.  We might be able to help you sort some of it out.  It just doesn't take a whole bunch of tests to test for the pregnancy hormone.  Anyway, I do wish you lots of luck in your journey.

Actually Adgal,  the reason for him orderind all these test was because I went to see him and told him about my pregnancy test and he wanted to find out if I had any pregnancy hormones.. but that was negative... of course I went to see him about 3 weeks after that happened....

one of the lines state the following:
nonpregnant >!!
Cheers everyone..!!!!!!!

Hi Alexia, and welcome.  Many many women here are your age or older and ttc.  There are also several using progesterone cream, amongst other things.

When your Dr. ordered all these tests, was it because you told him you might ttc soon?  Or was it just a general physical?  As Lisa said, if you do decide to move forward, seeing an OB would be a great idea.  They can check if you are still ovulating regularly etc. and also explain all the options available to you!

I wish you luck, and again, welcome to our community.

Thanks for replying.... I went to my MD and he ordereda bunch of tests and to be honest I have no idea what was he testing.... I know, I sound stupid but I wasn't that worried because everything was "N" meaning within the range... Three pages with blood work and everything is normal..!!! I was happy... I guess I should make an appointment with an OBGYN... But I don't want to do anything behind my STBH's back, so 1st thing is fully convince him then the appointment....

Hey I don't even know if I can NC....

Hi,
Yes I take progesterone cream and vitex as well as other good perimenopause supplements.  They are good for you even if your not ttc.
Google Dr John Lee, Dr Christine Northup and Anne Louise Gittleman - they are or were experts in the field of female hormones and health,  They all believe strongly in progesterone cream.
Have you been to your Obgyn to have your hormone levels checked?  That can give you a good indication on what direction you should take when you ttc,( Naturally, IVF, prescription medication or IUI.).
Good luck
