6 wks pregnant with possible polyp

Went to the Ob today, they did an US, the baby has a hb and is measuring correct but she showed me a *growth* of some kind in my uterus right next to the baby. She said it could possibly be a polyp? I have never had them before. I dont remember being told I had one when I had an US in June when I had a m/c. Anyone have any experience?? Am I going to lose this one too??

My wife woke again this morning with a slight amount of blood, and she is 6 weeks pregnant, she went to the hospital and they advised a viginal scan.  The hospital scan shows she has an enlarged uterus with fibroid and a size of 20x19mm. (2.0x1.9cm)  Now I am not sure if this is large or not, but after reading some posts on here, we are concerned it might cause a m/c.  The clinic who arranged the ivf said it must be a cervical polyp and they don't do anything about them during pregnancy as they are harmless, can anyone else tell us if this is nothing to worry about.  Should my wife have this removed or is it to late?

I know it's hard but try not to stress yourself over this! Imagine, a little polip, what it could possibly do? There are women who carry three babies and they all fit in uterus. Even if the polyp grows a little I am sure your baby and you will be just fine <3 keeping my fingers crossed and sending you much love and strength!

Hi,

a polyp won't necessarily result in a loss, particularly if it's small.  My sister says they saw 1 in her u/s and she's nearly 34 weeks now.

Best wishes

I had a polyp last year that I was told had to be removed.  I am sorry you have one now but the good news is that you are pregnant.  Hang in there, one day at a time

I hope so...It may sound bad but I am just expecting a m/c...I guess it would be better to be surprised that it doesnt happen than to be disappointed that it does....

I bet your odds of much better than that, and you will keep this baby!  I really think a polyp is just a small growth and it is likely to dissolve on it's own.

I asked her if it could cause me to m/c and she said it possibly could and I will have another u/s in 2 weeks. I guess it's still 50/50 either way...

Congratulations! I am glad you didn't m/c. Hopefully your doctor can give you some piece of mind regarding the polyp. I would think if it were a problem they would have told you when you had the US. Good luck and I hope you have a healthy happy pregnancy.

What great news, your baby has a heart beat! You were first sure you m/c and then you weren't sure, hurray!
I had a polyp back in July 2009.  It stuck around, lots of times they just dissolve, so in Sept 2009 I had it removed hoping that would help me conceive.  Polyps are little cyst that tend to grow, sometimes because of meds, but you should not be worried.  I only had mine removed because often they say it prevents you from getting pregnant.  Did the ob say they were concerned?
