A Question about ovulation tests?

I ovulated on monday 1st September 2008 i know that because i get really bad cramps, yesturday Thursday 4th September 2008 was the first time ever i bought an ovulation kit (First Response 7 Strips + 1 Pregnancy test) from a pharmacy.I took the first test at 4pm Thursday 4th Sept thinking that i ahd finished ovulating and it wouldn't be positive but to my suprise it was positive,i took another one at 7pm that same night (i know it was probably stupid)but it was fainter than the first test i took at 4pm,i guess what i am trying to ask is can i still be ovulation on thursday?Did i ovulate on Monday 1st Sept and Tuesday 2nd Sept and Wednesday 3rd Sept and Thursday 4th Sept????Am doing another test today at 4pm to see what that one is if anyone knows a little about ovulation test please help with my question,i have also read that if a woman is pregnant the ovulation test can be positive because LH and HCG are identical things when it comes to OPK's.Thanks anyone who answers.

Hi agdal.  I bought a box with 20 strips and it is accurate.  I love it. You have to pee in a cup and place the strip as straight as possible in the cup.  It's called:Answer" and it has 20 strips.  I recommend this one.

Well, thats kind of the problem. I have tried so many brands, and so far the only ones I have found easy to read are those ClearBlue Digital....but they are so stupidly expensive.  So I would love to know the same thing as Pamela...if anyone has any other suggestions about less expensive and still effective, I would love to hear about it as well.

I should have started a new post, but since we're all talking about OPKs--which ones do all of you recommend that you get a good clear reading from that aren't too pricey?

Just because you had the cramping on Monday does not mead you ovulated on that day. I would rely on the sticks! I would have to bet you ovulated on Thursday, caught the tail end of the surge and thats why now it's getting lighter. I used to test 2x a day. Once around 10am and once again around 4.......Okay sometimes a few times in between too!! ha ha

A medhelp friend just suggested a really great website to me  peeonastick.com

I just checked it out, and it had some pretty great info.  It might help you out.  Good luck again.

The LH surge was darker than the control line that's why i knew it was positive, got just under 3 hours and i can do another test to compare it to see if the LH surge is the same or darker than the control line, thanx anyway adgal for your response.

There are a couple of different things it could be.  First off, the OPK's with the two lines can be difficult to read sometimes.  In order for it to be positive the LH surge line has to be as dark or darker then the control line, and sometimes I know I find it hard to tell.  Another possibility is you are ovulating later then you think you are.  Perhaps the cramps are your body getting ready to ovulate.  If you did in fact ovulate on the 1st and conceived, its pretty unlikely you have produced enough HCG for an OPK to be picking it up.  It usually takes 5 or 6 days for implantation to happen, and your body to realize its pregnant, then start producing HCG.  But yes, apparantly you can test positive on an OPK when you are pregnant.  I have also heard of women ovulating more than once in a cycle.  I don't know how common it is, and my only knowledge of it is other women telling me its happened.    LH surge usually happens 12 to 72 hours before ovulation, so if you did ovulate on the 1st, that would mean you ovulated again at least 4 days later.  Could be I guess.

Wish I could be more helpful, but I do wish you the best of luck to you in TTC!!
