Are False Negatives on Preg test for real?
Ok, so, I'm off the pill...have been off for 4 mo. I had 2 reg periods, then waited 41 days for my third period. currently, I am 50 days waiting for my next period. I took 2 preg test--here's the catch....i picked them up at the dollar store. has anyone ever taken a test from the dollar store--are they so crappy that they can't really tell you that your preg or...what. both of the tests were negative. that was last week that i took them. do i just wait this out longer--knowing that my hormones can take quite a while to get me back on a regular cycle? or, do i get my butt to the drug store and fork out the $20 for a real test? HELP! what do i do?
took it again first thing this morning and it is definitely a little darker line...guess i am calling my doc first thing monday morning. i was going to try to wait until sunday or monday morning to take the test again...but like you said, curiosity was killing me. thanks for all your help! guess i'm preggo with #3!!!!! whoohooo.
Faint is still a line in my book. Try with first morning urine. Curiosity would be killing me already so I would be testing in the morning, lol. Sooner or later you will need to make that appointment for comfirmation.

ok, so---after stressing again today -- i took another test. this time...the preg line was OH SOOO FAINT....so faint that i thought i was making it up. i showed my hubby and he thought he could see it too. there is one more test in the box i purchased--how long should i wait to take that again and see if the line is any stronger? i checked my dates and today is day 55 on waiting for AF. should i wait another week, or do it again in the morning?
When I was pregnant with my son (a long time ago) I had this same issue. I made an appointment with my doctor just telling him that I was very late for my period but home pregnancy test was negativeand that maybe something else was wrong. They took a blood test along with other things like urine (thinking I had a UTI) and the blood test is much more accurate than a pee test. Lo and behold I was pregnant and was like 14 weeks at that time. He was the only one I had that issue with. All the others (girls) my HCG was strong and showed up on the pee tests and usually the cheaper ones worked better for me that the more expensive ones.

when you were taking the test that were neg...how many days late were you? shouldn't a test show positive if i'm this late? (i have to look at the dates but i think i'm around 55 days).
But, from what I've read, when people get off the pill it can take up to a year for them to have regular cycles----i'm not a hard-headed person, i just don't want to be making doc appts for the next yr every time i'm late. i think i'll give it another week--your right, i should know if i am preg from the doc.

If you are that late, you really should see a Dr. I know its a hassle, but if you are pregnant, you need to know, and if not, maybe he can figure out whats going on? Just in case there's a medical issue that needs to be dealt with or something. Good luck to you.
Well I FELT pregnant but had Negative test results on a digital clear blue easy. But I was pregnant....and here I am 31 wks along!
I started taking the test when I was like 40 days late. I just don't want to go through the hassle of the dr's office. i'm just guessing that my hormones are all freaked out since i'm not on the pill any more. i can't imagine a test being negative and a doc telling you you're pregnant..right? i just don't know how long i'm supposed to wait before letting my doc know. i have NO symptoms of pregnancy.
I took my third test last weekend. another negative. now i am around 54 days since my last AF.
How many days late for af were you when you took the 2 test and got a negative. I'm 1 week late today for af and i took a test tues. and it was negative. i have a dr. appointment tomorrow. I'm worried because i had tubal reversal surgery in Jan. 08 and i'm worried about eptopic pregnancy. I don't know if you would get a positive with a eptopic.
With this pregnancy I took 2 pregnancy test and both came back NEGATIVE....and Im 31 wks now. So i say.....go to the DR if you want to be sure.
The dollar store tests are pretty good. Sounds like you should go to the Dr. anyway and see why it is taking a while to get things back to normal.

If it were me, I would either buy a higher quality test, or see the Dr. for bloodwork. False negatives are common, false positives are not. Either way, probably not a bad idea to see the Dr. Even if your not pregnant, if you have had normal periods since coming off the pill, and now have one thats so lengthy, not a bad idea to have things checked out.
