Average length of pregnancy for 35+

Hi Ladies,

Any ideas where I can find some stats on the average length of pregnancy for a woman in her late 30's, first child?

I have found that the average length for a first pregancy is 40 weeks + 8 days, but I'm not sure if that applies to first time moms in their late 30's.

Any advice would be appreciated,

g

Oh, I know what you mean, I tried to space my kids out so that I didn't have 2 birthdays in one month. But, they don't always co-operate :) Good Luck!

Thanks for the info.  I'm not pg at the moment, but we are going for an IUI next cycle.  If I O on schedule and have a 40 wk pregnancy I will be due on January 1.  Not the ideal due date as we were hoping to not deliver until January.  I guess its something that I shouldnt bother worrying about until I get there.  Just kindof curious what the likelihood of going past my due date at age 37 would be.

From what I've read, the average length of pregnancy in the US is only 39 weeks. Oweing to the fact that inductions and c-sections are usually scheduled 1-2 weeks before the due date. The only statistics I've found on older mothers is that women over 35 have 1.5 % greater chance of having a premature baby. Your Dr. may be able to help you out.
