Baby's heartbeat

I went to the doctor yesterday and they were unable to find a heartbeat. My periods have been irregular bc I am currently breastfeeding a 6 month old. They seemed to think I was just too early on. They found the water sac and the yolk sac, just no heartbeat yet. Of course I'm beside myselfand worrying. I don't go back for 2 weeks for another ultrasound. Anyone experience this?

A heartbeat cannot usually be detected until week 6 or 7 of pregnancy.  Hang in there!  It sounds like things are progressing as they should be.

I first found out I was pregnant using the pee strip at 5 wks, but I thought I was only 1-2 weeks at the time. I bled out the following week, it happened in the morning, right after I got out of bed to pee, that I noticed a gush of blood. So, I took myself to the ER. When they tested my blood, urine, did an ultrasound,  etc. (after 5 miserable hours), they finaly confirmed I was 6 weeks pregnant and said I had what was called a "subchrionic hemorrhage" or "threatened miscarriage" but amniotic sack was still attached to my uterus. So was very lucky to still have my baby. I am 35 weeks now. It does take a long time but by 6 weeks or more they should be able to figure out where the heartbeat is, with ultrasound--it measures the number of beats per minute,  measures the size of baby and amniotic sack,  and youomay be provided with an estimated due date. As long as you see no clot gush out while you bleed, its a good sign your baby is still alive. The heartbeat comes first before the rest od the body develops, so give it another week to find out the results.

It takes 6-7 weeks to hear the heartbeat. I went in for an ultrasound at 5 weeks 6 days, no heartbeat yet. Then I had another ultrasound at 7 weeks 4 days and the baby's heart is beating away! I'm 12 weeks pregnant now :)

If your that early along, it's not uncommon to not find it. Give it more time for the baby to grow a bit more and get stronger. Try not to worry yet. There are plenty of ppl on this website that were able to find a heart beat after even 9 weeks.

We aren't sure. They think I am like 4 or 5 weeks. The doctors didn't seemed concerned and think they will see one at my follow up appt in 2 weeks .. But I'm still worried.
